Wiki: Screenshots of ships

Post by JazHaz »

Now that we have several alternative ship textures available, ie Deepspace Ships, Griff's Normalmapped Ships, Neolite Ships etc, I had a thought that it might be a good idea to have screenshots of how each ship looks like on the Ship data pages on the Wiki.

Perhaps in a "Custom Paintjob" section? So for example on the Python ship page you would have a section with screenshots of the Deepspace Python, the Griff Python, and the Neolite Python. I am quite willing to sort this out.

However I would need screenshots of the Neolite Ships, does anyone have these?

hmm, i was going to suggest Simons NeoOolite thread https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=5490
but it looks like a lot of the image links are broken, there's still 1 or 2 working though dotted around the thread, it's over 70 pages long though, but it might have what you need.

edit: there's also a slide show of screenshots on his website
http://www.hbclinux.net.nz/oolite-neolite.html
a bit of nifty 'Print Scrn' key pressing might be in order!

Ah thanks! There is a link to his Photobucket album on there, so I will go through that (over 300 images lol).

I have done the first page, for the Adder. Let me know what you think?

I think you shouldn't use brackets in links.

Oh, and the <url>-tag isn't meant for direct links, only for potholes like <url=http://whatever.org>this is a link to some site, while I am writing something else here</url>. Note that the link is inside the first tag, not between the tags.

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Adder_%28Oolite%29 (substituting the brackets and without the <url>-tag) works much better.

Alternatively you could of course use a pothole and only write one sentence:

I have done the first page, for the Adder. :)

Oh, and to make a comment on the page itself: Looks good, but the Deepspace Adder screenshot looks like its resolution is too low (visible "stairs" on the right hand side).

Thanks thats what I needed to know. Didn't know the % codes for the brackets.

Yes, I did have to scale the image up a bit. Will redo the scaling using a different method.

Uploaded a new shot of the Deepspace Adder.

http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Adder_%28Oolite%29

Have also done the following pages. Each (apart from the Asp and the Boa Class Cruiser) has both the Deepspace and Griff variants on them.

I still need to produce the screenshots for the rest of the Deepspace ships, and also the Neolite ships. Think I will leave that for another day!

sweet now if we could only get rid of that horrible white background for something a bit more "spacy".

One minor nitpick. The Griff Boa is not really a repaint but more like a variant and it probably needs it's own wiki page with a nice background story like the Griff Krait.

For example:

Didn't announce it, but I finished adding the Deepspace ships to the wiki recently.

Now have started doing screenshots for the Neolite ships. So far have done the Adder, Anaconda, Asp,
Boa, and Python Class Cruiser. Also added the new Griff Mamba that was announced a few hours ago.
