Also up for deletion:

Weird location, and the spamtastic two-words-and-a-comma "occupation" and "interests". Plus two hits already on SFS for the email address.

* Listing “admin” as occupation is more than enough for me

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Could just be paranoia on my part. I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

Probable, but with no evidence and no spumy links I’m not doing anything about it.Loxley wrote:Member2

After a bit of googling ("member2 profile") I'd say this was almost a certainty. There are a bunch of brand-new registrations for this name on a range of forums – "MMORPG Games", "Download 4 All", "SybianTalk.net", "ELT World Discussion" – and at least one as-yet-undeleted spam posting (made 40 minutes ago) on the last one in that list for mobile phones.

I see you have a lot of problems with bots here.
I don't know if the version of phpBB you are running allows this but I did something on another board that helped a lot with bots. I implemented a "custom profile field - number" that requested from the registering user the answer of a simple math question. Then marked the field as visible in the registration screen and also required. Finally, in the "Profile type specific options" I set the maximum and minimum values to the result of the math operation.
In this way, if the bots do not nail the result of the math operation exactly their registration is denied. You would be surprised of how many of the sophisticated bots do not know simple math.

WinXP SP3 - Oolite 1.73.4 - Sep 22 2009 - no OXPs yet
In time, they will work around this, they just need to code a solver for the math, and a detection routine to spot it. They are already running a captcha breaker on some bots, simply by using faked websites to host captcha tests, and making the poor schmucks who end up there pass the tests to get scammed, and keeping a database of the answers online for the bots to search.varsator wrote:In this way, if the bots do not nail the result of the math operation exactly their registration is denied. But it will certainly work for a while, which is all you really need. Just install it for now, and replace it with a new signup verification routine when the bots start penetrating it.
