Thanks DeepSpace. This really makes my shaderless oolite experience much nicer. :)

And the other was me, a few hours ago. :D

Why are the DS ships not on the Wiki?

You really should put them there ... the downloads would accelerate for sure

The main problem is, despite Winston saying he would look at it, file uploads are still disabled and we cannot put pictures up. Which is needed really for OXPs like this, where its all on the graphics, and no new ships.

Have created a page for them now. And added an entry on the OXPs table.

Now that file uploads have been restored, I have added images to the wiki page.

Looks good now! :D

There has been quite a few more downloads of the OXP reported to me from box.net, especially since images were put on the Wiki!

i grabbed it first thing on monday when i got into work! haven't had a chance to play oolite with it yet but that screenshot of all the ships arranged neatly is lovely - it's like a modern update on that ship chart you used to get with the original elite (well the c64 version anyway)

I have been one of them. With the nice experience with the griff convenience store in yah (thanks again DH), I thought I might try using Griff's ships too, although me being without shaders.

And it works, I get better looking ships. :D
Of course they do not look as good as with shaders and stuff (judging from your screenshots), but still.
I started flying up to anything out there, circling around it, just to look.
Without shaders used the look reminds me of some comicbook designer from the 80#s, but I forget which one. Moebius ?

But they come at a price :(
The max number of entities before framerate drops below critical value lowers - from ~110 to maybe ~80 or 90 - my PC is just too poor. :?

No flashers for non-shader.
No shininess for non-shader - makes them hardly visible until maybe 10 to 15 km distance - adds some more challenge.
(I thought about adding nonshader entries in the plist for flashers and materials, but got a headache from trying to understand it, eg. what flasher coordinates to use for the coriolis and the constore. Will try again sooner or later)

Still they look really good even without shaders.

Oh, wait, with 1.74-trunk, I did not get the ships to show as demoships. just the usual default Cobra3 showing. Will need to learn about that next.
