Military Fiasco

Post by Alex »

Hi all,
Just wondering if in this mission, is it normal to be made fugitive after detroying a stolen military ship?
The oxp version I have is 2.4.3

Recently completed this mission, but having said that I don't remember this happening to me. Maybe you were just unlucky with a police ship coming on the scene during the battle?

Probably you fired on one that wasn't stolen.

FYI: The OXP doesn't only add stolen military ships to the Ooniverse, but also the regular ships the military is actually using. Firing on one of those is not a good idea. (You can easily distinguish them by their scanner blips: stolen ship: yellow (or red, if he's attacking you); legitimate ship: purple (or blinking purple/red, if you have annoyed him.)

Ye that's what I would have expected, but no the ships I have attacked and destroyed were usually in pairs, showed as yellow before attacking me. On retaliation they show as fugitive with quite a high bounty, about 200 - 250Cr.
After showing both who was the better cmdr, no witnesses, clean before encounter, fugitive after!! and also occasional accolade from navy on docking, but still fugitive??
But not to worry completed the mission last night.
Though must admit I had to use a method my bounty hunting bretheran would not have approved of.
It was after all. Them or me.

If you used an energy bomb, you could have easily wiped out a stray good guy ship in the area.

The trouble comes if you have friendly military/police ships around too, since the stolen ships are still tagged military, they still show up as purple on the scanner, and you get outlawed for killing them.

They're not tagged military. As far as the police is concerned they are just ordinary pirates. At least that's how it is in the version of the OXP I have installed. But I don't suspect that this has changed in more recent versions.

Odd, they showed up as purple/red when I found them, but the local military were happy to shoot at them, but if I joined in, I was outlawed instantly.
They were definitely tagged as system ships on my bounty scanner... I ended up letting the military kill them.. Seems a leviathan can be killed by a frigate on a ram :D

This seems like you got into a situation where during a battle military ships turned against each other after an accidental "friendly fire" incident. Which means that actually none of the ships you observed was stolen, all were actual military ships.

Hrm, one WAS a leviathan, and when I docked later, it said I'd done the mission.. which means one was stolen.

All the runners up to the show down with the liviathan and it's mates were tagged as normal pirates but the biggy was tagged as a system ship but flashed.
My problem was that killing the ones tagged as pirates were giving me fugitive status. Even when there was nothing else in the area.
maybe spoiler;
(ps. an energy bomb doesn't kill a liviathan.)

Had another funny about legal status last night.
I was approaching the seedy bar for docking. No problem till I was about 20 - 30meters from dock and suddenly I became fugitive??
And no I hadn't fired at anything, and didn't get hit by a launching ship.
It only happened that once.
I played on for about another four hours with another 3 naughty captains removed from living status with no problems, so I just put it down to some sort of identity hick up.

Well, Random Hits is called beta for a reason... I just hope one day LB can find the time to work on it some more...
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Just completed this mission, and while the standard stolen ships show yellow/red on scanner I can confirm that the carrier and it's escorts are still tagged as military by the scanner, flashing red/blue intercept markers and all.

I was still clean afterwards but there were no other police/military in the area nor did I use any WMD (taking out the witchpoint beacon and fuel station probably wouldn't have made me popular).

I also thought the pirate ship was yellow on the scanner, but looking at my oldest version I have. I see that both the normal as well as the stolen show up as military.
But, while police an military look similar on the radar, the military won't affect your legal status. So when getting fugitive in battle you must have hurt an innocent police vessel.

I am sure there will be a JS version of RH when 1.74 gets released. Currently I have the main part translated. I am now working on the special missions. It will be 1.74 minimum though.

Locate Leviathan

Post by seventh »

Tell me please, what should I do when I locate a Leviathan? At first time I exploded it and when I docked to the station I got congratulations and 100 kg of gold. :)
However, I think I was too hasty.
Another time I was trying just to find it and not to kill. But I still must "locate Leviathan" after this.
