Spambots and security

Many users of the board reported recently that they have received private messages with content similar to the below:

To: <YourNameHere>
Posted: Thu,Feb 11, 5:15 am
Subject: Important message from the forum administration! Quote message
Dear, <YourNameHere>!

A virus alert was noticed on your computer.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: [link removed]
If you do not pass this test we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your Internet provider.


Please be advised that these messages are not genuine, they do not originate from the Oolite team or the forum's admins and that they are just spambots delivering their payload. More importantly, please make sure that you do NOT click on any links in this type of messages, ever. Doing so may compromise your computer's security. In the meantime, we are trying our best to get rid of the intruders.

I’ve banned all user names containing “Moderator”, “Administr” or “Team”, but they’ll probably come back with some new variants sooner or later.
