Oolite test release 1.73.4

Post by JensAyton »

Oolite test release 1.73.4 is now available from GURPO. This is a bug-fix update to 1.73–1.73.3.

Changes between Oolite 1.73.3 and Oolite 1.73.4:
  • Fixed nova mission.
  • Fixed missing planet name in Constrictor Hunt mission.
  • Fixed bug where subentities of sold ships could come back to haunt your log.
  • When buying a ship which does not specify a HUD, the default HUD is now used immediately.
  • Scooping can no longer overfill your cargo bay.
  • Fixed some cosmetic issues with equipment list UIs.
  • removeEquipment scripting method now works with damaged equipment.
  • awardEquipment scripting method now works with EQ_REMOVE_MISSILES.
  • Fixed spurious OXP verifier warning about display_name key.
  • Hyperspeed is now turned off when dying.
  • [Windows] Installer now uninstalls old versions correctly.
  • [Mac] Fixed an error where random (often very loud) noise could be played through the right channel at the end of long sounds.
  • [Mac] Game now starts in full-screen mode if it was in full-screen mode when last quit.
  • [Non-Mac] Fixed a problem with mouse control.
  • [Non-Mac] Added option to suppress splash screen, which forces the game to run with software rendering on some systems.

Is it my imagination, or is the uninstall now a little over-zealous? I had the JS debug console executable in the root of the install dir, and that seemed to get nuked too (although sub-folders off it stayed fine).

Not a big problem as I had it installed elsewhere, but just thought I'd raise it in case anyone loses anything more important.

Noted!

We'll make the necessary adjustments for future releases.
Expect something along the lines of 'Old Oolite directory contains files not distributed with Oolite. Delete these extra files?' to pop up towards the end of the uninstall... :)

edit: In the meantime:

Please Note: extra files placed next to the old oolite.exe will be erased, together with the older Oolite version.
Anything inside oolite-saves and AddOns is perfectly safe!

Cheers,

Kaks.

Just tried it on my work Vista laptop - it uninstalls previous version ok and works just fine (testing limited to launch from Lave and fly around a bit)

Once again, thanks Devs.

Full clean install runs fine with virgin Jameson and usual savegame.
Even tested in Witchspace. (A nice little fur-ball, that was.)

Guys,

Does this fix the problem I encountered with 1.73.3, or will 1.73.4 invalidate the modified version I'm using (re: GeForce graphics issue)

I was hoping to test OSE and it requires 1.73.4 - but I don't want to go back to a non-working version of Oolite on my PC!

Cheers,

Drew.

You can install 1.73.4 and edit the shortcut's startup line to include the -nosplash switch. This should get you running without the GeForce issues. If you would prefer to play safe, just copy the entire Oolite tree to another folder before you upgrade. You can always use the previous (copied) version by going to the folder you copied it and double-clicking the executable.

Thanks - Just tried 1.73.4 and the -nosplash works a treat.

Cheers,

Drew.

This is the first version i hav tried. but so far hav found nothing that is bad
all oxp i have tried work very welll ( tho i am just about above average 78 kills,so i hav still time to experience some later bug) I just wanted to send out my thanx to all who have taken brabens dream and brought it to the realization it is today.I last played this way back in the 80's and did not realize anything like this was being done until my programming cousin informed me of it a few weeks ago. I spent the time grasping at titbit rumours that always ended in dead ends but now i dont even care if braben does do a new elite, cuz this is the bees knees. the only way this can get better now is if we can all get in the same Ooniverse online (but of course i realise this may just be a pipe dream, but always hoping). any way, i ramble on, was just meant to be a message of thanx to all u coders and programmers that hav spent hard hours/days/weeks/months/years and possibly decades keeping the ELITE game alive well and BETTER than it ever has been THANK YOU THANK YOU and THANK YOU.
p.s. even the support here is better than any other game i have played, so a thank you to non coders/programers who help in the bulletins too
I left a note in my diary, it simply says .... bugger !

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
