Contraband and legal status

Post by gavchap »

Hey guys, i got caught carrying narc's today, my first time transporting illegal goods so i was wondering, is there's a way to fix legal status (without useing the oxp where you pay to fix it) and also, any tips on transporting contraband "more" safely?

Your legal status will become 'clean' again after several jumps... as long as you stay out of trouble for a while.
As for tips on carrying narcotics... hmm, maybe I should write a Contrabandista's Handbook one day.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

<smirks> Contrabandista's rule #1 - always (and I mean always) have sufficient fuel in the tank for at least one jump!

Also have a ship that is perfect for illegal good shipping: like the Vortex
It has 5 cargo bays... use 4 for your "goods" and then load the 5th bay with legal items and keep that so galcop can monitor those items...cycle through your goods and sell at a profit . make sure you cycle back to the legal load so you can pass the monitors clean as calpurnica.

I got caught carrying Catnip (from the new cargoes.oxp) and went offender and then fugitive. Took me a lot of jumps to become clean. Tip: Always carry some fuel tanks. You're gonna need them.

Heh! Of course, a member of the Honourable Guild of Contrabandistas would never use such a ship! No sport in that, really!

MI Amigo Why do you disrespect the me so??? :?
Have you such arrogance as to say what ship is best?

If you surely want sport... then fly an adder in the free mexican airforce then tell me if it is truly sporting :P

From your sky brother who is close to counting coup on you.

What... like this Adder, you mean?

Flying an Adder in interstellar space is very 'sporting' indeed... as is flying a Jameson's Cobra III as a contrabandista!

The cops won't get too ornery if you only IMPORT to the major stations, not export. Learning to dock with injector speed is a good evasion technique. I've made more money with computers, though, I'll be honest.
Tell me again why I've got to drink three pints?

Perhaps our two resident Contrabandistas could make the Handbook a cooperative effort, in which both could present their particular methods, techniques and styles..  8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

One other way to sometimes reduce your bounty is to help out a Police Viper fighting pirates or Thargoids. Don't do it if you're a fugitive though, as the Vipers may just shoot you or mark you for fines on docking.
