Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Hello my lovely DDF! Time to dust of the craniums and prepare to focus-fire on the first of our final DDF topics, which will be about your continued role in the epic space opera that is Elite: Dangerous. One of concepts we’ve always wanted to foster is the idea that the Elite: Dangerous universe is...

Re: Oolite arcade

Only possible downside I can see is that you might be on your feet for a looooong time if you get into a good session..  Good point, Oolite is not the arcade kind of game in which you only spend 10 minutes at a time. It could be a bit boring standing in front of a cabinet waiting to arr...

Re: i5 or i7 Quad Core Processor?

I have an i7 in my "gaming laptop". Its good, and future proofed for longer, but I wish I had got a better GPU.

Here's a first look at the inside of an Imperial ship:

It was a choice of my new tattoo or concept of an Imperial Courier concept, so against my better judgement I picked the concept...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Good morning commanders, There is a new build available for download. Beta 1.04 is a minor interim release on the same development branch as 1.03, fixing a small number of niggling bugs, listed below. We're still working very hard on the trunk for Beta 2 and will have news on this soon. - Insurance...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

I have a similar setup to you (well i7 CPU and GT 635M), but I'm having lots of troubles with FPS in ED. Often only 10-15 FPS when in stations, which is making docking problematic. What FPS are you getting? What settings are you running at? Resolution? ED settings?? I'm running ED at 1024x768 on th...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Whoo! Finally got the Beta for Elite Dangerous. At first, I was worried it wouldn't run on my machine. But somehow I've managed to convince it to run smoothly on my laptop (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3317U CPU @ 1.70GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M 1GB). Of course I've had to lower the graphics but i...

Re: Impossible space engine, that apparently works

It looks as if this could bring about the future of Oolite spaceships with constant thrust that we dream about! :)

Here's another link to the same story, this time on Space.com.

Re: Turrets?

*ponders* Is it possible to piggyback the playership on an AI ship so that the player ship is carried along wherever the AI ship happens to go? It's possible to dock with a ship (eg a behemoth or liner) that then goes and jumps somewhere else, and when you launch you are in a different system. That...

When I got fed up playing Elite (which wasn't often) I played Revs and Chuckie Egg on the BBCs at school.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Frontier forum breaking most people online records by the second (over 2700 is the current record compared to 1240 a few days ago) and now went down with a database error. Next Beta not yet out. People are booored. It's back. Probably lots of people hammering their F5 keys. Accordin...

Re: [UPDATE] Orbits for 1.74.1

IIRC this OXP broke with the release of 1.76. I was using it at the time and had to dump it. Can't remember what broke though.
