Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read
I don't know if anyone said it yet (I don't have time to look at 14 pages of posts) but how about LAN multiplayer? I think is should be easier to make, one player can be the server and the other the client, coding coding, blah blah blah, Done! LAN network game! I think the easiest would be to someh...

Re: Plasma Cannons
Any chance of some verification or correction by those who know? ... And are these only twins? What exactly is your question? I believe there are at least 2 things named plasma cannon in the game. One is the turret, which is a single rather than double and does more or less what you would expect ro...

Re: Units of Measurement
The km labels for waypoints and reticle targets are unfortunately hardcoded. You cannot change then with an OXP. Ah, the km, pronounced koom (kuː ʊm) of course! An ancient unit the origins of which are long since lost. Legends tell of prehistoric origins, early scientists trying to express distance...

Re: The Libraries mess
*What is that first game screen called? The "Main menu" In the source code, they are refered to as demo ships and it is described as demo screen. See Universe.m FWIW there is also (internally) a ship registry which is the set of installed ships. In the code itself shiplibrary as far as I ...

Re: The Libraries mess
Imnot 100% sure what exactly you are getting at, but I think we may be confusing different meanings of library. A ships library is a piece of ingame stuff, a room or shelf of books that you can entertain yourself with on the long and lonely travels in the spacelanes. A Library in the technical sense...

Re: Lave Academy OXP
... in the sense that we are not all-seeing, I suppose. I now bow out of this subject, except to add that I was probably under the illusion that this sub-forum is about scriptng questions and OXZ release/update announcements ... Quitd so, this discussion of this oxp seems exactly the place to raise...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
1938 is before 1950, so it also doesnt count. To be honest I spent a few hours last night looking online for radio sci fi and trying to find some that has been made into cinema and its very limited. There was a bit of scifi radio before 1950 (war of the worlds is probably the best known radio scifi)...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Jules Verne, Journey to the Centre of the Earth . 1 H. Beam Piper, Lord Kalvan of Otherwhen . 2 Isaac Asimov, The End of Eternity - it's about time travellers who repeatedly change history and keep on ending up eliminating space travel as an unintentional side effect of the changes they make. 3 Fri...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
OOps, didnt realise I was the last :( Lets have 5 scifi stories (film, book, whatever) from universes which do not involve space travel. So no startrek, no starwars, no farscape etc etc. Also not episdoe X of startrek where they stay on the ground, that universe most definately does have sparships. ...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
10 must be captain planet and the planeteers. Or alternatively Captain Caveman and the Teenangels, but that has a poor claim to be scifi.

Re: Units of Measurement
I feel we are talking at cross purposes. You are arguing for the logic and usability of metric, I agree entirely. The fact we measure people with feet horses with hands roads with miles and (most) other things with meters is an absolute farce. But the point OP made here was about suspension of disbe...

Re: Units of Measurement
I think the answers here have missed the point. The thing is that 17km is a ludicrous value, so renaming km to something other than well known units makes suspension of disbelief easier.
