Re: Oolite on Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 works without major tweaks

Yeah, I think it's mainly a due to Debian finally fixing the broken GnuStep libraries that they used to ship, and these filtering in to Ubuntu et al. Good news all round! Ah, that makes sense. If GNUstep's messed up, Oolite would be, too. Well, at least people will stop having Oolite issues on Ubun...

Oolite on Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 works without major tweaks!

Okay, the moment I've been longing for since Ubuntu 11.04 came out is finally here. Oolite 1.76 works with Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 on my computer, without any system modifications or buggy gameplay. I installed the latest Ubuntu beta just like I do every six months, as I like to keep track of Ubuntu upd...

Cool, that's the same way I found the game. :D

I'm really glad you like Oolite, I think it's the best game I've ever played. Welcome to the community. :)

Re: Graphics Card issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with Oolite 1.76.1

I'm not very cautious with computers, I jump in over my head a lot. But at least I can fix most problems I get, and if it can't be fixed, I just reinstall the OS. :) Yeah, I've been down that avenue a few times. Once a friend had me move my user to the audio group instead of just adding m...

@Ryanhoots - This looks like a nice ship. Do you plan on releasing it as a oxp ?
Possibly, if I can get the model looking better and if people show enough interest in it. The ship also comes with a custom HUD, based on the standard one.

Re: Screenshots

Because my beloved Taylor Miller is going to be featured in a new project I'm helping with, I've had to make a whole new ship for my personal use. http://i33.servimg.com/u/f33/16/73/49/25/oolite16.png http://i33.servimg.com/u/f33/16/73/49/25/oolite17.png Ippon is a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship lookalike, a...

Re: Graphics Card issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with Oolite 1.76.1

Okay, marked it as solved. :) I've had similar problems with Oolite on Ubuntu 10.04 and later, running GDM, but I guess a newer version fixed it. Which display manager does Linux Mint use these days? Maybe I should switch over sometime, if I don't like the new GNOME remix of Ubuntu (which I plan to...

Re: Graphics Card issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with Oolite 1.76.1

That's some wild stuff right there. I wonder if this was the problem I was having in 12.04 right before I jumped to Mint. Anyway, you should mark the thread as solved :D. In future, if you have continued problems, you might try adding the repository: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubu...

just for the record slim as display manager works.
I think KDM works too, but I haven't tested it on there for a while.

Yeah, until now I thought it was the other way around, when flying Taylor Miller they are both extremely easy to destroy. :)

Re: Starting Oolite from scratch... OXP recommendations?

I have a few more suggestions: New Cargoes OXP : Adds over 100 new specialist trade goods, contracts, auctions etc. Much more interesting than the standard trading (imo). Illegal Goods Tweak OXP : Changes the way contraband is handled in the game to a more realistic way. Also supports New Cargoes O...

Re: Graphics Card issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with Oolite 1.76.1

Okay, I just replicated the windowed to fullscreen crash, and it reminded me of something I had forgotten... when Oolite crashes for me, be it the shaders, fullscreen, or the random crash, it's not just a CTD. The whole display manager (in my case LightDM) goes down. So, I switched to GDM, and it se...

(Solved) Graphics Card issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with Oolite

Okay, as stated in another thread, Oolite has been not working on my Linux installation, much to my dismay. So, as Smivs suggested, I am asking for help. Problems: CTD if Shaders are on, or if the game goes into full screen. CTD when the game's window is resized. CTDs infrequently, seemingly at rand...

Re: Starting Oolite from scratch... OXP recommendations?

I recently got a new computer, and Oolite on Linux can't identify the graphics card correctly. I get infrequent CTDs at random moments, and Oolite will crash if I enable shaders, or resize the game's window. Well, I've just added a new gfx card to my old rig, and although it took a bit of sorting o...

Re: Starting Oolite from scratch... OXP recommendations?

Thanks for all the great OXPs everyone, I'm surprised how much I've missed when looking about on the Wiki. Just out of interest Ryan, what bugs? I've always run Oolite on Linux and it's as stable and reliable as it's ever been here. I recently got a new computer, and Oolite on Linux can't iden...
