no- jolly sound advice! you are definately not paternalizing- the advice is hardly father to son stuff! and nor are you patronising I dunno, I wish my dad'd taught me the dos and don'ts of scripting: Daddy Hesperus: "Well, son, uhhm...You see, there's native AIs and custom AIs....Errr, and if ...

But it would be a mess! The main premise is that thargoids are The Enemy. It wouldn't make much sense if some ships - undistinguishable from the enemy ones - were to suddenly be friendly. Even if they were, most GalCop people would still want to attack them if only on purely xenophobic principles: ...

In all honesty, I'd see any military ships that come from the Duvalian Empire or the Federation as 'Alien'... Shouldn't that be "In all hostility, I'd see any ship that carries cargo as 'Alien'"? ;) Screet Statement "Captain Hesperus, and indeed all members of the Hesperus Intergalac...

Repeat after me: the Reference Sheet is my friend, the Reference Sheet is my friend! :P The what? <scrabbles through 'Python Owners' Handy Guide to Your Ship'> Oh, wow! There's a handy little sheet detailing all the ship's controls here! And a maintenance logbook.... oh, it's blank....ah... Captain...

Who's to say that it was a mid-jump failure? Who even said they had jumped from anywhere local? ;)
Ooh, sounds intersting. I look forward to the next installment.

Re: ADVANCED SPACE COMPASS letters

The reference sheet says that if I have Advanced Space Compass an 'N' or a 'W' should appear by the compass when I am near a Nav Buoy or Witchspace beach respectively and a 'Z' for a free trade zone wiith the FTZ OXP. But I don't ever see letters for any of those items. am I missing something here?...

Re: The Return of the Cap

One proof-reading comment: Reidquat (passim) Perhaps it's a just a running gag? Or Captain Hesperus' Ooniverse is distinctly different from everybody else's? (Which would it make slightly difficult to integrate him in this project .) Or perhaps it should actually read "Riedquat"? I don't ...

Reidquat *was not* an intentional destination, as will be explained later (i.e. once I've figured out where the hell the DP has been...). Hmm, I don't see on the map for there to be any possible situation where a mid-jump failure could cause Reidquat to be the closest system. So, it makes sense tha...

The Return of the Cap

<camera view: Deep space, a planet in the middle distance is partially eclipsing the solitary star of the system. Mid-screen text reads "Witchspace Beacon inbound to Riedquat". The camera view sweeps around to the Witchspace Beacon itself> A jump cloud blossoms into life like the silent bl...

That's the problem with a region of space as big as the one GalCop has under it's legal jurisdiction. It's something like a high-tech Wild West, the law can only be in so many places at once, leaving it up to the individual pilots to defend themselves. How many times in the past have you got into a ...

So much for retirement. The clock tower is back in business. "Out of dark, out of doubt, to the day's rising I rode, singing in the sun, Light .50 unsheathing. To hope's end I rode, and to heart's breaking, now for wrath, now for ruin, and a red nightfall." - Ripped raw and bleeding, then...
