Re: Differnt launch key for mine?
I think the safety catch idea sounds best - I don't want to carry more mines/missiles than the game allows, and I think that dropping the energy bomb was a good idea - but some scenarios written before this change really seem to need it. If the Q-mine is the only available replacement, and I've got ...

Re: Where do I go from here?
I'm running Griff's plus Respray plus Z-Groovy Cobra Variety pack plus Povray Planets plus Zygo's asteroids and nebulas plus a boatload of other OXPs on a Intel HD3000 and not getting any significant slowdowns, FPS hovering between 45 and 60. This computer has Intel HD4600 integrated and it seems t...

Differnt launch key for mine?
One of the good things about the old energy bomb was that it was difficult to fire it accidentally. There are missions where you really need the same sort of punch, and with it gone the only way is to buy a mine and try not to blow yourself up. But if you carry something like that routinely, sooner ...

Re: Strange tactic against Adder
You say that now, but I've had to repair a naval shield unit twice in four flights recently, it's good to be able to afford that sort of thing out of petty cash!

Re: Where do I go from here?
Smivs works - but I think I'm going to get myself a graphics card anyway, Grifs did look VERY nice. 1gb PCIe x16 sound OK?

Re: Where do I go from here?
Looks like Griffs slows things enough to give me problems, unfortunately. This computer doesn't have a graphics card, and the motherboard graphics are OK but not up to the load Griffs seems to impose. Never mind, game play is the important thing, and the other add-ons are fine. You know you have sma...

Re: Where do I go from here?
OK - I've gone for Thargoid Wars, Cabal Common Library, BGS, Skilled NPCs, New Cargoes, Random Shipnames, and Snoopers. I've decided to steer clear of Anarchies for now. Maybe I'll look at more when I've got up to speed with them. Which is the best ships graphics package that doesn't mess anything e...

Re: OXP idea - Auctions and unknown cargoes
I hadn't realised there was auction stuff in there - I definitely need to add New Cargoes.Diziet Sma wrote:Sounds like it might make a fun addition to New Cargoes.. which already has some funky auction code in it..

OXP idea - Auctions and unknown cargoes
A couple of ideas, most likely useful for OXPs. Both probably come from watching too many Storage Hunters etc. episodes. Auctions The idea, basically, is that some bases might have old storage units filled with abandoned cargo and other crap highly desirable items, possibly including equipment, whic...

Re: Where do I go from here?
New cargoes looks interesting, worth considering since I have cash to play with.
Not very keen on changing the HUD, I've been playing since the original BBC version and really don't want to learn it again.
The others all look fun, especially random shipnames.

Thanks - I think I'll start off with Thargoid Wars and Skilled NPCs, see how that goes, add more once I'm more up to speed.

Where do I go from here?
OK, so I am now Elite. What do I do for an encore? In particular, what OXPs should I be looking at? I've been playing without them up to now, since I wanted to get through to this point without extra help etc., but maybe it's time for a change. My feeling is that I want to go on playing more or less...

Now there's a blast from the past - but that was a ground base, in a manner of speaking, not an active ship.Disembodied wrote:Congratulations! If you haven't got a name for your Boa already, I've always like "HMS Selene" ...

Re: Right on, Commander...
Congratulations, Commander! And kudos for doing it all with a core-game-only installation! 8) (Umm.. you do know that you can take in-game screenshots at any time with the * [shift-8] key, yes? ) Actually I must have missed or forgotten that - I haven't looked at the instructions in months. ...
