Right on, Commander...
...Was "heard" in my messages
And there was much rejoicing...
Now I can start looking at some of the add-ons without feeling I've cheated.
Actually a bit anticlimactic - three reasonably straightforward flights took me from 6391 to 6400 - when I thought I was coming up to it at 6000 I got jumped by Thargoids twice, and in the final flight ran into 14 pirates.

Right on, Commander... nicely done!
Yeah... my 6400th confirmed kill was a Python with a measly single-digit bounty. I should've let him go, I suppose.ffutures wrote:Actually a bit anticlimactic - three reasonably straightforward flights took me from 6391 to 6400...
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Congratulations, Commander!
And kudos for doing it all with a core-game-only installation!
(Umm.. you do know that you can take in-game screenshots at any time with the * [shift-8] key, yes? )

Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

*gets so jealous*
Best I got was Dangerous before I had to remove Oolite... and now I had to start afresh and have got so many cool ideas that I don't have time to play :/

Actually I must have missed or forgotten that - I haven't looked at the instructions in months.Diziet Sma wrote:Congratulations, Commander!

Thanks!onno256 wrote:Hehe, congratulations!
I managed Elite with the PC version of the original game a couple of times - once when it first came out, and once four or five years ago before I'd heard of Oolite. But that was really a bit easier than Oolite.zireael wrote:Best I got was Dangerous before I had to remove Oolite... and now I had to start afresh and have got so many cool ideas that I don't have time to play :/

Congratulations! If you haven't got a name for your Boa already, I've always like "HMS Selene" ...

Now there's a blast from the past - but that was a ground base, in a manner of speaking, not an active ship.Disembodied wrote:Congratulations! If you haven't got a name for your Boa already, I've always like "HMS Selene" ...

Very true, but it was a good name nonetheless ... And it was a blast indeed, for which many thanks!ffutures wrote:Now there's a blast from the past - but that was a ground base, in a manner of speaking, not an active ship.

I got my elite at a similar time and it's a great feeling after a couple of years of play.
My final adversary was called "Eagle of Grief III" and the bugger broke my beer holder

Did you contemplate a Superman I moment (turn back time with a reload of your last save )xzanfr wrote:Congratulations, commander!

But by crikey you made him pay for it!
