Also, should be hugely slower and should randomly burst into flames.

Re: [RELEASE] Blimpy
Good start. Perhaps, given the rough shape and purpose of the ship, it could be 'jar' instead of 'yar'? Trickier, because I don't have Goodyear's (probably proprietary) font – but never say never! I've found a similar one which, with a bit of tweaking, might do the job: http://img163.imagesh...

Re: Textures that eat memory - Win7 crashes.
Uh, is that closer to AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS in syntax? I'm asking for a, uh, friend.Thargoid wrote:I don't think Win7 (or Vista) use boot.ini any more?

Re: How do I save all of my Oolite game data?
I believe the default location for your OXPs is ${HOME}/.Oolite/AddOns/ (check to be sure). Your save games should be under ${HOME}/oolite-saves/ or perhaps ${HOME}/.oolite-saves/ (again, check to be sure). A simple tar -zcvf your_saved_filename_which_should_be_shorter_than_this.tar.gz .Oolite/AddOn...

Re: Hardware recommendations, Linux, 2012 March
To use more than about 3GB of RAM on a 32-bit OS requires some 'tricks' - under Linux this means installing a kernel which has PAE support (Physical Address Extensions). I've been running 64-bit Ubuntu Maverick for years now (with "only" 2GB of RAM) as my only desktop machine and there's ...

Re: Hardware recommendations, Linux, 2012 March
I can't give much advice on graphics cards, except to stay the hell away from intel. I get good processor-side speed out of this old 1.6gHz Atom, but the integrated GPU is lame. If you have a good GPU (with good 3D support), a 1gHz CPU will be far more than enough to run Oolite. This probably means ...

Re: Randomshipnames.oxp released
if the OXP name remains the same, the player just has to drop a new version into their AddOns-folder, which will automatically overwrite the previous version. No need to delete anything by hand. Obsolete files don't get deleted, & in the case of scripts this can cause interesting results. Also ...

Re: Banks and Credit cards censor Smashwords...
I note that the only links in the article are to (6) techdirt articles and (2) smashwords weblog posts. One would assume that a real journalist would consider it germane to explore why the "pressure from credit card providers" is being instituted. Perhaps by contacting paypal or a credit c...

Re: Next ship after Cobra Mk III?
I move to something (anything!) that can carry more than 50TC as soon as possible, use that to get a decent cargo carrying reputation and make the big bucks hauling 3000g loads of gems to places with unpronounceable names. Later on a boa2 (or an OXP ship like one of the clippers) with cloaking devic...

Just in case, here's my WIP version of update of the FreeBSD port to 1.76: https://redports.org/browser/avg/games/oolite Looks good. I'll try building it later tonight. Also, nice to see a fellow daemon. :) Edit: *mutter mutter* echo "GNUSTEP_WITH_CLANG=yes" >> /etc/make.conf *grumble hum...

I'm with the pumkin on that one: voices off. If the magic voice had a touch of [Gilles de la] Tourette syndrome, howe'er . . .
