Re: Help with installing 1.76 on Ubuntu

I was hoping to avoid a unity based interface - I like gnome - I was planning on 10.04 if I could still get it by the time funds and the netbook I want to buy being in stock are temporally collocated... If you stick with the standard Gnome desktop and not the Ubuntu-Netbook variant or Unity or any ...

Re: Help with installing 1.76 on Ubuntu

Did you investigate? A netbook is still on my wish list and I intend to put Linux/Ubuntu on it at the earliest... I did a basic comparison of the 3dchess and oolite packages, but as far as I can work out they pretty much do the same thing for menus - just a case of installing certain files. Unless ...

Re: Shooting down missiles.

IMHO, the addition of hard-head missiles to the core game unbalanced it. In Elite you had missiles and ECM. (and it was somewhat possible to shoot down missiles) In Oolite, you have missiles and ECM and hard-head missiles which are (almost) immune to ECM. (and I don't think I've ever managed to shoo...

Re: no TARGET_LOST to stations in 1.76?

I'd concur that it sounds like it's a bug; although it seems to me that a normal stations' scanner-range should be Aegis range. After all the main station will defend someone if they are attacked within Aegis.
Smaller stations (Rock Hermits etc) should probably only have normal scanner range.

Re: Wacky Keyboard Codes in keyconfig.plist...... AARRRRRGGG

Annoyed and done with it. It's sad that trying to solve some problem for the other users ends up in so much frustration. I'm sorry you feel that way. I did attempt to work out what you were wanting and I'm sorry if I misunderstood or if my replies were unclear. Based on your first couple of message...

Re: Wacky Keyboard Codes in keyconfig.plist...... AARRRRRGGG

My objectives are 1) is to simply figure out which keys I can use in oolite (without modifying the source, which may be possible but my experience in compiling software so far says it wont be any fun, even if my work is perfect.) See the Wiki page. 2) Figure out the codes that OOLITE understands fo...

Re: Wacky Keyboard Codes in keyconfig.plist...... AARRRRRGGG

Are you looking for where the keys array is defined in the source-code?
If so, src/SDL/MyOpenGLView.h:101
EDIT: or src/Cocoa/MyOpenGLView.h for Mac-users.

Code: Select all

     BOOL            keys[NUM_KEYS];
I'm really failing to understand what you're trying to achieve though..

Re: Wacky Keyboard Codes in keyconfig.plist...... AARRRRRGGG

So now i just need to find this Table Not sure what you mean by 'find this Table'. As Eric pointed out, there's a Wiki table here which has the standard key configuration and all the correct (Oolite) keycodes.. (although it does appear that some commands are missing) so if you want to remap any key...

Re: Wacky Keyboard Codes in keyconfig.plist...... AARRRRRGGG

Does anyone know why the Above Key codes work???????? and what the keycodes actually are, because nothing on the wiki or the web i have found matches!..... Cheers The keycodes in these tables and the config plist are indeces into an internal array in...

Re: Artificial Gravity and Space Stations,

Actually, there's nothing canon to say that ships have artificial grav; and some fanfic actually says quite the opposite! As usual, pick your favourite handwavium :)

Re: Partial Witch Space Jumps Using Spare Drive

That is sortof a cool way around the 'press space commander' situation if you misjump and are left with insufficient fuel. I wonder if we could add that to Oolite: You don't even need to simulate multiple systems simultaneously either, all you have to do is change galaxy coordinates in witchspace fo...

Re: Happy Friday the 13th

Say, does anybody know the origin of crossing the fingers for luck? I'm feeling kind of "lazy" today and just want some helpful person to look it up for me. In Germany it's more common to "squeeze your thumb(s)" for luck. According to one german article I found on it, it s...

Re: Oops. I sold the cargo I was meant to deliver.

The 10-minute-delay on launching includes getting your ship into the dock for take-off, clearing with launch-control, etc. etc. Actually the question should be, why isn't there a short clock-adjustment when docking either? And for loading/unloading cargo pods? etc. (Of course, for the purposes of sa...

Aha!
Presumably the Ubuntu Netbook Edition (which, iirc, uses a precursor of Unity) does not entirely adhere to the Linux Desktop Standard. I shall investigate.
