Re: WitchSpace ship populating

The "maximum climb misjumps" is justified by the witchspace wormhole being possible to fly out of, which dumps you in interstellar space. Agree on the Thargoid and Naval presence, though.

Re: WitchSpace ship populating

If the ship was running on injectors when it was gunned down, this can lead to the entertaining situation wherein the escape pod is flying so fast that hyperspeed is required to catch up with it.

Re: where's the federation & Empire from E2 Frontier?

From gluing the Frontier and Elite timelines together and filling in the gaps. There's a link to the fancy timeline and justification in the thread I started in the Fiction subforum.

Re: Favourite ship.

It would be quite nice to have an automatic savegame generator thing, to let you start in systems other than Lave and to be able to set one's initial balance and ship with automated balancing of prices.

Re: F4 screen

F1-4 select view screens while in flight, and in stations F1-3 are mapped to station-only screens; F5-8 are all mapped to screens which can be used in station or in flight, so I assume that there weren't any other station-only screens to put on F4 so they just left it out.

I feel obliged to point out that that joke is not mine; I lifted it from someone else who probably didn't think of it himself either.

Re: OXP loading order

Well, alright, but it would be nice if there was a nicer way to express dependencies and conflicts. I mean, there's already a requires.plist in the OXP root directory—why not extend it to express inter-OXP dependencies?

Re: The Whole Frontier Canon Mess

The fact that space sims effectively died out before I got into gaming annoys me immensely, particularly since I have no interest in Generic FPS 7: Part 5 Section 3 or the whole "Excel IN SPACE" genre.

Re: OXP loading order

Because they can override each other. For instance, the orbits OXP has different behaviour if it's loaded before or after farsun.

Re: Gunsight zoom in?

If you can aim that accurately and pay for 4 military lasers, you really deserve to be able to take out large numbers of ships quickly.

Re: What's up with being Hacked?

So the reported password compromises cannot have been through a brute-force attack on the database?

Re: Antiubericity

I have to say that 0.7c ships kind of blow my suspension of disbelief out of the water: relativistic effects would start getting very noticeable at that kind of velocity. While capping ship stats is rather extreme, it would be nice if certain limits flowed out of the game naturally.

Re: What's up with being Hacked?

So wait, the passwords were stored in plaintext somewhere? Surely some mistake?

Re: Father, I've done a bad thing!

Given that 20,000 credits isn't even enough for a military laser, taking out a loan from the monks in order to evade them better is not a terribly good idea.
