Re: Limiting/expanding ship shop
What a great target! especially because there isn't something like beaming in Oolite. So how do you get there? Like I said : take a taxi out to the shipyard from the offices on the space station. There's no "beaming". That's no problem. Do you seriously think that the hanger decks are goi...

Re: Limiting/expanding ship shop
it also has a standard size shipyard, which sort of breaks the illusion. Especially, if there are many pages of ships for sale. They must have some hyper cargo storage or something. It is odd that the ships for sale aren't stacked up in space outside the station. Doors locked, distributor arms in t...

Ah ... and of course, I'm always looking for the passenger who'd make the best bang per buck.onno256 wrote:I get this only when i'm transporting a lucrative passenger,
I hadn't considered that a possible scenario.
So, the docks of the Ooniverse are laden with spies. Interesting.

Re: Insane attack levels
I can assure you that Oolite works perfectly fine as a portable application. It certainly has in the past. Probably the maintaining of things in a multi-platform codebase will ensure that it does in the future too. But I'm too used to seeing things unexpectedly change to have too much confidence in...

Re: Insane attack levels
You must have an oxp installed that is spawning them, I don't get muggings at every jump. Could you tell us what you have installed? Hmmm, lost the attribution bit of the code. Oh well. From my Latest.Log C:\Users/NLP970-F/Desktop/PortableApps/OOL182/oolite.app/GNUstep/Library/ApplicationSupport/Oo...

Re: Insane attack levels
Hoooo, lots of suggestions. - Changing routing off the main lanes and hitting the Torus drive or Injectors as soon as I come out of Whichspace ... yep, known and done that for years going beck to playing Elite off a 5.25in floppy in the work's computer. But, you come out of Witch-space, there's 10 p...

Re: Insane attack levels
Pirates will usually demand tribute (so many TC of cargo) This has been noted. Sorry, but in Real Life, I've been mugged at gunpoint in the past by policemen. Demanding tribute ends up, immediately, with "an your shirt, and your underwear ... feel free to walk home, after emptying THIS bank ca...

Insane attack levels
I'm trying the new (1.82, I think ... oh there's another issue) version on a computer I have from work for "STUFF". LOVE the richer textures - is that what this "shaders" talk is about? And I'm successfully dipping toes into the tentacle-filled pool that are OXPs / OXZs ... inter...

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
Maybe your videocard or the driver is the source of the problem? Are you tried other 3D games (Supertuxkart, TORCS)? I've never made any investigations into the graphics system - I do web browsing, email, expenses and alien shooting (Oolite) on it, and it works ; that's good enough for me. Any driv...

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
You might be attempting Oolite x86 (32bit) on an x86_64 (64 bit) system From the System information application (there's probably a command line for it, but I can't remember it.) Release 6.0.1 (toutatis) 32-bit ... Processor : Genuine Intel® CPU 1400 @ 1.66GHz × 2 But more generally, this is a 2006...

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
It would look like there were other problems building up in the computer - something falling apart in Lubuntu, which I'm going to have to address separately. But the machine stopped working at all (oddly, first symptom was the battery suddenly failing to report charge sanely), then simply wouldn't b...

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
Oh well, that's the problem solved now. It doesn't work at all after a re-install.
I'll try the next version.

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
Install gdb Is installing an entire programming environment necessary? I really don't want to do more than is absolutely necessary. I'm tempted just to go back to the last version. I really do not need to waste another day messing with the depths of the sound system. Or a programming environment. E...

Re: [Solved] Failed to initialize backend "pulse"
So, what happened there? I'm getting the same sort of errors ~$ oolite AL lib: (WW) alc_initconfig: Failed to initialize backend "pulse" *** Error in `./oolite.app/oolite': double free or corruption (!prev): 0x09d6c268 *** Aborted (core dumped) Erk. It looks like Oolite died with an error....
