Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

A system changing its' government or tech level. By the way: this reminds me of a very old idea of mine: a dynamic Ooniverse OXP, which would change the government or tech level of selected planets every once in a while. Original thread here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3043 It ...

Re: Oolite Multiplayer? Please read

The closest I see Oolite ever coming to multiplayer would be some sort of a database similar to Noctis 's GUIDE which would store some sort of timed events in a persistent universe. For example, for the first month the Old Worlds enjoy Navy/police protection. Then every month something could happen...

Re: Fantastic Books Kickstarter

I didn't do it! When I looked at it yesterday, it was at about £33.750. But when my pledge was managed, it had already gone over £34.000. As it's not too much over the amount even now, it seems there was a small competition for being the backer to make it funded. And I was just a little too late. Co...

I'm using my magic skills as a seer to declare that you have Ionics OXP installed.

Players who don't use this OXP will have a different experience of the Cevera system.

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

My impression is that Paradox was coming at it from more of a modeller's perspective. Yes, that's my impression as well. And there is nothing wrong with coming from a (ship) modeller's perspective. However, in the game, what ultimately counts is the player's perspective, under which all other persp...

Re: Shipyard

The content of the shipyard changes over time. But it's not happening overnight. Pilots don't tend to buy a new ship on impulse, thus most ships will spend a considerable time in the show room before being bought. But it does change. One of the devs would have to say how long you'll have to wait, th...

Re: Personalities.oxp

I'm halfway through converting the various comms messages from plist-style to directly embedding them in JS.

Other than that, I still have to add some of the personalities mailed to me, and tweak some parts of the code.

So yes, I'm still at it, and it will be fully released one day.

Re: Limit Theory

I read somewhere that it's third-person view only - is that correct? Don't think so :| , he just seems to use it a lot in his update videos :) Even in the videos there's a lot of switching between third-person and first-person view, similar to if you alternate pressing F1 and V in Oolite. It is cor...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

I was referring to the scale... the scale that says that one predefined unit = another predefined unit . In this particular case, the first unit I refer to is the one all modeling programs use. Most will actually refer to it as a "unit" rather than "foot" or "meter" or...

Re: Split: Re-scaling experiment

All ships are to scale , and everything works as it was originally intended to. Maybe I'm already too late to the party, but still: I think that Paradox misinterprets what the problem is. In order to illustrate this, I'd like to ask a simple question regarding the emphasized part of the quote: To w...

Re: Trunk nightly

Oh, incidentally, a shorter and more future-proof way than checking for each role individually would be the test Ship.isInRoleCategory(ship.primaryRole,"oolite-assassin") (the capital S on the first Ship is intentional) Similar tests can be written for other role categories I was wonderin...

Re: Split: Difficulty for new players

A random idea on how to limit players torusing out of WP lane. Spawn some asteroid fields similar to the 1.79 tutorial one beyond the lane randomly as the player is out of lane You mean, in front of the player, as some kind of fence, guiding the player back into the corridor? Interesting idea, but ...

Thanks, Admiral - I wanted to be certain.
Which means that you have to make two more additions. I'm sure you see the pattern.
