Re: What are the 'old' commanders doing nowadays ?
<blinks in the beautifully rendered sunlight of the friendliest forum this side of Riedquat> I'm still around... I lurk more than often, catching up on posts and checking that you are all behaving. ;-) I still spend most of my "Elite" based time in ED, sadly, although I do play NMS and a l...

Re: Space Travellers Guild
If you look deep enough into certain websites maintained by certain people who helped develop Elite you will no doubt see contradictory statements. I do remember reading a Braben quote saying that he used to RP Traveller. And I _think_ I remember one of them saying that the planetary government type...

Re: Elite Encounters: The Elite Dangerous RPG
Er. [taps mike]. Is this thing on. [brushes the dust off this topic] Er. I just wanted to say, this Elite Encounters thing. It's finished now. I released it a couple of weeks ago in PDF format. It's pretty good. Feel free to grab a copy from my online store. https://daftworks.co.uk/store. If you lik...

Re: What is regarded as canonical in Oolite history
<blinks in the bright starlight> I lurk. Every now and again I pop up and gaze in awe at the amazingness that is the Oolite forum. Where it all began. Where I found out I wasn't alone. Ahem. Yes, the canonicity of Elite, Oolite etc... I think the official line from Frontier is that there IS no offic...

Is this not already being discussed to death in the Outworld section?
I don't think it belongs here.

Re: Thoughts on technology
i did a quick calculation when i saw the first isue in our newsagents in Australia. the first issue was $5 the second $10 then all the rest were $15. came to around $1500 for a printer that i could buy as a kit for under $1000... needless to say i didnt buy it. 3D printing is evolving so fast that ...

Re: Thoughts on technology
Interestingly, 3D printing seems to be an exception to the rule. It's a new, emerging technology that has components that collectively come to about the same amount as the full unit. Example is the 3D Print and Create magazine collection. 2 years worth of magazines and parts to build a £700 3D print...

Moller Skycar http://www.moller.com https://youtu.be/VHuoPJjuRwk [/quote] Ah, the vapourware skycar. It's an awesome development but I think it's sadly doomed. Tiny helicopters are the way to go. I like how this has become the "overgeneralisation of bad parenting" topic. In my own experie...
