Sounds like just some random wormholes. They appear occasionally, and usually lead... TO DEATH!

Well, that's a pity. Well, if noone minds a coupla kets being remapped, you could just use the wasd layout block:

Q W E
A S D
Z X C

For the thrusters.

EDIT: Wait, maybe not.

How about a full manual thruster pack conversion? That way you could disengage the standard Elite computer assisted controls and go for undamped 6x2 way thrusters. (Roll+ Roll- Pitch+ Pitch- Yaw+ Yaw- X+ X- Y+ Y- Z+ Z-, yup, only twelve keys required, could just about manage that with two hands!) :...

yes, as of v1.65 you can.

just hit ...uhhh...shift-v i think.

If a ship has external views defined, you can toggle through them.
(no external reticule though)
Shift.... V? THANKS! *Checks out ship*

EDIT: Turns out it's just V. The view's too close, though; any way to zoom?

Darn it, the current entries for this rock. We need external views so we can look at our shiny ships!

It's a pity it can't be done. (As I've heard)

A man after my own heart - I like my ships angular and brutal! :) (I got my first taste of Elite on the BBC B - first in black and white, then in colour thanks to a brick-sized 32K add-on! And I used to play Frontier on my old Pentium, before I embraced the ways of Mac.) Frontier still looks great....

...you should worry... ...that's the same age as my niece's daughter... but, anyway... ...it's good to see it attracting another generation! Enjoy... We are the future. Panic. Yes, I am glad. And I do seem to like the harsh shapes of Elite more than the pansy curves of the new genera...

Hi. I find that manually docking is fun, as well as quite satisfying if you do it exactly right. However, i'm quite new to this, and haven't had the chance to dock manually during a firefight. It sounds quite hard. Anyway, I think that that unless extenuating circumstances force you to (like the 4 F...

Hi there! I'm also a brit - unfortunately, too young to have ever played the original Elite games when they came out (born 1990). I only got into gaming about 5 years ago. Just recently spotted Oolite, having been searching for a version of Frontier, Elite 2 (The planetary landing is something that ...
