Re: [RELEASE] InterstellarRescue.oxp
What is the most feared event for a Commander. Having a miss jump and ending in interstellar space with out fuel. This equipment is an end to this fear, can be bought from TL 12 + systems for 10 000 Credits. You must try this magic OXP to get to a nearby system from interstellar space. This equipme...

Re: Cargo carrying - is it worth it? (newbie question)
...Because when you quit, your reputation decays away. If I understand correctly, this only happens when you jump through witchspace. For those who want to do lots of trading within a system, they can try installing these OXPs: Your Ads Here, Commies, Hoopy Casinos and Rock Hermit Locator. Be...

Re: Cargo carrying - is it worth it? (newbie question)
Some OXPs, like "Random Hits" can even make bounty hunting a viable choice of ingame profession, once you have done enough of it to establish your reputation as a bounty hunter. Just keep in mind that the revenge can really kill your profits if you aren't a proficient combat pilot. Quite ...

Re: Rock Hermit Locator add on
I have no idea how Total Patrol could slow you down. Did you have a problem with it? Too many ships in the space lanes mass locked me. So I could only travel at the relatively slow 0.35 lm most of the time, even when I was heading to the sun to scoop fuel. If I left the space lanes, the Deep Space ...

Re: Looking ahead
There are a few fundamental problems with laser cooling in space in the first place. For one thing, there's really noplace for that heat to go. Vacuum is a rather good insulator, so if something gets hot, it will take quite a while to cool down. Unless one uses some exotic method to bleed off the h...

Re: Rock Hermit Locator add on
Deep Space Pirates OXP can also randomly add Rock Hermits, so if you have that also it's possible to find 10+ "R" targets on the advanced space compass. It does? I had that installed, but removed it along with Pirate Coves, Total Patrol, and a few other OXPs. I like having my Ooniverse bu...

Re: The Feudal States
The lodges only appear in systems belonging to a royal house, if I remember correctly. They are marked on the Advanced Space Compass by "F". Went through the pdf file for the 4th or 5th time, and finally realized the pages with the pretty heraldry symbols contained the Galaxy and Systems ...

Re: Rock Hermit Locator add on
I like this. Good for investing in gold, platinum and gem-stones. Also good for finding asteroids to mine, especially together with the Ore Processor. Make money fast, and especially fun with Pirate Coves installed. I noticed an issue with Rock Hermits but I'm not sure if the effect is caused by the...

Re: The Feudal States
Hi Lord Ha Ha. Thanks for the comments; glad you liked the design of the readme - it took long enough to write. I thought I updated this last month but I think I got halfway and forgot to finish it! I've applied those fixes and have uploaded a tweaked version to my site. Don't mean to rush you, but...

Hacked my own HUD
I played around with several HUDs but have to agree with those who said that the default HUD is most comfortable. But I needed help with aiming, so I "hacked" the default HUD (both hud.plist and hud-small.plist) to add a crosshair and the Target Sensitive Reticle function. So now it is eas...

Re: Looking ahead
The Mk 1 Cobra is a decent starting point (as most of you know I sold my Mk 3 at the start of the game and used a Mk 1 until I'd saved up for a Python), but the Mk 3 is a better bet all round. Look at the number of players who never move on but keep their Mk 3 for life. But even with all the good r...

Re: Looking ahead
The only thing I disagree with is the 'relatively small'-bit. The Cobra III is in fact one of the biggest ships in the original set (and I'm talking about Elite here), so it's not relatively small. Also, there simply is no cheaper ship with more space in the cargo hold. Cheaper, smaller ships would...

Re: Looking ahead
What a contentious issue! We are debating whether to leave the Elite heritage behind here. I won't comment on that, other than to offer a canonical 'solution'. Assuming we stick with the Cobra 3 as the start point, a simple back-story could be that when a Jameson enroles at the Academy, they have t...

Re: Which is *your* favourite Cobra variant, and why?
I've never tried the Target Range OXP, but it looks pretty good. When you have just passed the opponent using a barrel roll and injectors, you can just pull up or dive hard and they should come into view fairly soon. Usually you'll be behind them then, which is right where you want to be. Ah! You'r...
