Hmmm, looks like the original poster had a russian locale. Could it be a keymapping issue? Maybe Y is in a different place on a russian keyboard... (apart from the keyboard being in Cyrillic)
Yes, it is possible.

What does this all mean to us simple folk?
More endorsement from linux distros; probably, as a consequence, more visibility for the project and more possible developers attracted to the project.

That would translate into a better game for the user

Yes. Technically the data for 1.65 is tripple-licensed, since CC-by-nc-sa 2.0 and CC-by-nc-sa 3.0 are different licenses, but it may be distributed in its entirety under the GPL. Excellent. I will prepare an upload for Oolite in debian with the necessary changes for it to enter the main section! :-...

Re: Licensing

Is the thing about data true for 1.65 ? If so, I will have to make a fast upload in Debian so is part of the new Debian release which is really soon to come. The dual-licensing applies retroactively to 1.65 (but not earlier). 1.65 may also be distributed under CC-by-nc-sa 2.0. However, there is cur...

Re: Licensing

So to make it clear: Oolite (the engine) is GPL 2.0 or later (at choice)/CC-NC-SA (2.0 for releases until now, 3.0 from now on) Oolite-data is CC-NC-SA (2.0 for releases until now, 3.0 from now on) Is this correct? No. From now on, Oolite (the application) is GPL 2 or later only. The data is GPL 2 ...

Re: Licensing

Just after some clarification. I'm under the impression that Oolite is now GPL, but the artwork (including models, textures and music) is under a CC license that prohibits commercial distribution and derivatives. Is this generally the case? If one were to take full advantage of the additional freed...

Re: Scooping anomalies, NO BUGS!

I've found two scooping anomalies. Strangely, though, when I trade gold, platinum, or gems at a station, it doesn't count against my cargo capacity. When I scoop them, they do. On F5 screen, it shows 29t/30t, plus whatever I scooped. But I can't scoop anything else until I jettison something, and t...

I am still suspecting the graphics driver. Fair enough. Something about the fullscreen mode, I assume? I run Oolite in a window. A full-sized window, but a window nevertheless. I can't remember why. Perhaps something to do with xscreensaver. Can you provide the output of lspci -n and lspci -vv ? Su...

I, for one, cannot even understand the need to translate games to native languages. Perhaps I'm too old, but in my day, _all_ the games were in English. It would feel weird seeing Finnish used in Oolite... I have the same feeling, (for Dutch/Flemish) probly also age-related. My first computers were...

Wow. I haven't upgraded much of anything since I had those problems with the nVidia drivers, so this required about two hundred package changes. Something about python and its dependencies, I'd guess. Of course, I use apt-get instead of aptitude; I don't think there's much of a difference, but if s...

I notice the environment is set up for the UTF-8 character set. Could this be causing the problem? I doubt it... If you can tell me how to get that system info, I'll get the dump from my Debian/unstable system. Mine recognizes the keystrokes with no errors, so it could be useful for comparison purp...

[Debian][1.65] oolite does not respond to keyboard

Hello, One of the users of Oolite on Debian has submitted the bug report #400028 in the Debian BTS. Here is the initial report: Package: oolite Version: 1.65-3 Severity: normal After the start of oolite I may see a rotating ship and hear the music. The message offers to load commander '(Y/N)'. Howev...
