Loose thargoids are pretty rare in regular oolite, are you sure you didn't install the thargoid wars oxp? thougher oxps are to be avoided, imho, if you are a novice, however until you aren't able to face strong opponents you can do the dog leg route to a station, that is turn 90°, hyperspace towards...

you've got to be seen though, as for their aggressiveness it must depend on all those narcotics they're carrying around, it must not be only arcturan megaweed...

yeah, that figures it out. I recall taking out a behemoth with 5-6 half cycles so it makes sense

there are a few OXPs like globe.oxp or tori.oxp that address that problem
