Re: Alite 2020 is here

I've been playing this on my phone recently. Really good. In some ways it's the perfect platform for Elite; maneuvering in space has never been easier.

...Although to me the ending is a little abrupt, it is after all a very well structured work. Just wondering what music notation software did you use for this work? Is it possible to send me the midi file of your creation? Didn't finish answering this, did I? MIDI file in previous post (above). Reg...

I had previously created a midi file of the theme for a slimmed down dial-up version of Oolite, back in the day when BB was less widespread. So this is all GM'd up to work at once in Quicktime or similar... Oolite Theme MIDI Version I'm still contemplating a 'remix', or at least tweaking the old one...

I remember the sense of satisfaction I experienced when playing Elite TNK, of scooping the escape pods of the Galcop I had just blown out of the sky, then selling them as slaves. What happened to good old slavery, then? Did I miss a meeting?

I think we need a new game mode, sort of like "Strict Mode" - a "One Life" mode.

When you die in "One life" mode, your save game gets deleted!

Oolite is not a runthrough game, unlike...

This is pretty incredible (no saves)(click full screen and watch it like a film!).

I think you're wrong. What prompted me to post this was someone else's observation that pirates (also cops) seem to know when you're loaded with valuable (or in the case of cops, illegal) cargo. I've noticed this bias myself.

Insider information about valuable cargo for pirates

...If you are carrying valuable cargo, your ass is grass, ... Which makes me wonder: How do those pirates know what is in my cargo hold? I can't tell what's in theirs! What do people think? Would it be cool or not to have some kind of sensor device for purchase that tells you (at least to some degr...

The scanner idea makes sense. Otherwise, if I choose to be a pirate myself, how come I'm the only one without this inside information? Instead of scanner, there could be a message describing a ship that is carrying valuable cargo in that system. That would make it more of a hunt, like a mini-mission...

jonnycuba first brought Oolite to my attention. Despite this, I think I may have been the first person to contact Giles and become a playtester. I wonder if I still have the very first version of Oolite I received knocking around somewhere.

If any of you know the Red Vs Blue (using Halo), and The Strangerhood (Using the Sims) by Rooster Teeth you will see the potential for a little animation fun if we were to get a multiplayer option for Oolite. Go check em out... http://rvb.roosterteeth.com/archive/ http://sh.roosterteeth.com/archive/...

It was indeed all my own work, although I took more than a few hints from the 'how to write a space-oriented theme for use in a game' handbook. When I have a spare moment I was considering making a remixed version.

I thought there should have been one too, as the controversy between the marmite & vegemite posses is as strong as that between the hate/love marmite. The dunno's are probably thinking WTF?

And then they go into countdown mode... "I'm a thirty-second bomb! I'm a thirty-second bomb! Twenty-nine...Twenty-eight..." (Starship troopers, R.A.H.) Maybe we could argue with them and try to convince them not to explode yet... Talk phenomenology with them. make them doubt their ...
