Re: So I got thinking about Freelancer, Freespace 2 etc...

You may be interested in this OXP, as it createst its own missions https://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Life_In_The_Frontier_-_Revival_OXP Took a quick look at the wikipage, and it seems to me these missions might all be separate and independent of each other...? Interesting/entertaining idea, nonethe...

Re: So I got thinking about Freelancer, Freespace 2 etc...

I'd be happy/impressed if at least as many missions as possible could be strung together in a more-or-less (chrono)logical sequence forming some kind of imaginable storyline (perhaps even inspiring a nice, long bit of fiction again...). Perhaps a wikipage could eventually be created and maintained ...

Re: So I got thinking about Freelancer, Freespace 2 etc...

Don't have much to contribute, except cheering from the sidelines. I like the idea of possibly (somehow?) stringing some/most OXPs together in a (chrono)logical, sequential quasi-storyline... ...and the player is always free to do their own thing, and (re)join the story at some later stage (again)...

Re: [Another] Dumb Question

"The Dark Wheel" by Robert Holdstock, p. 8, par. 7 & 8: "No-one knew how or when the designation of space-going vessels had been linked to the names of snakes. The Ryder's {sic} own vessel was a relatively harmless Ophidion {sic}, capable of two hyperspace jumps {???}, armed very ...

Re: How Long does a Dock-to-Dock Hyperjump Cycle Take?

Only six lines... Great! :D

Oh! OXPs... of course. I forgot about those. OK, there goes my precise accuracy out the window. :|

I'll be looking into those six lines then one day after I've determined which OXPs I like best. :D

Re: How Long does a Dock-to-Dock Hyperjump Cycle Take?

Might it not be easier to just create an oxp which outputs all this to eg. the latest.log? It might very well be, but I have no idea how to go about doing that. Besides, I'm not playing the game myself yet; I'm just doing lore research. So, I would really appreciate any and all input, if there is a...

How Long does a Dock-to-Dock Hyperjump Cycle Take?

Greetings, commanders! <o From the Status Screen after Docking, through Trading, Ship Equipping, Maintenance, Launch, Hyperjump (avg. = approximately between 4.4 to 4.8 light-years, i.e. between 19.36h to 23.04h), Combat, Mining, Misjumping, etc. to Docking and Status Screen again... How long, on th...

Re: The Wiki is down

I was just thinking... (although it might look like it, this is actually not a poem, btw :P ) Even though I might sometimes (like now) attempt to express my gratitude as exactly and sincerely as I would like to imagine that I am able to, I do not actually know, and, therefore, also do not realise an...

So now that the immediate problem is resolved, it makes sense to continue looking into backups. The more the merrier.
I'll back you up on that statement, hiran!

I second Nite Owl on all points. More than this, you don't have to read. The rest of this reply is simply an expression of relief, and of sincere, heart-felt thanks to the saviours -- in advance and anticipation. :D (I still get "Problem loading page" and "Unable to connect" erro...

Re: The Wiki is down

This might not help, but I haven't seen anyone mention these names in this thread yet. Perhaps one of them can establish contact/gain access...? Way back in 2012, maik said, "There is now a backup server for http://wiki.alioth.net. It is located at http://wiki.maikschulz.de. This is an "of...

Re: What do YOU use Roll & Pitch Gauges for?

This brings up another interesting topic for discussion. When looking out at any of the four cockpit directions are we looking out of windows at the real world or are they projections onto a view screen by a camera system? If memory serves there are several H.U.D.'s that feature damage to such a ca...
