Re: [Release] Galactic Starts (Beta)

I think I haven't thought about this one long enough yet... There certainly seems to be much that is worth some more consideration. 8)

Re: [Release] Galactic Starts (Beta)

Suggestions for a better name eagerly canvassed! The Elite Plus manual, p. 13, par. 1, Delivery Advice: states: 'Pilot licences are issued only at the planet Lave.' (spelling error is original) Perhaps an alternative name referring to 'New Licensing Offices' or similar might be applicable...?

Re: Imprint bearings...?

... Good points, all of them! Yes, and, if Mr. Redman was as good at playing as Mr. Holdstock had confessed to have been, then he might not have got used to the methods of movement so much. ...And, yes, joysticks are beyond my ken. (Assumptions are sneaky little things... -- especially my own.) Rega...

Re: Imprint bearings...?

Yes, agreed, Cholmondely. There does seem to be some azimuth:elevation concept involved, but the final application looks a bit wonky. Regarding your first example, though, I think the meaning there is actually, that he rolled 30deg anticlockwise, because rolling is the only (anti-)clockwise manoeuvr...

Re: Imprint bearings...?

I'm not freaking out. All I'm trying to indicate is that I think that I've tried to do my homework as best I know how, and to provide a solid argument to show why Mr. Redman's bearings might very well be random gibberish. ...unless someone can explain how else I should rather interpret them. I...

Re: Imprint bearings...?

I'm not sure that I understand your critique. If the numbers are measured on a 0°-360°, then I would count forwards in the approved manner (clockwise and upwards, for example) and 110:95, 195:15 and 290:85 are all three very different. As are 310:120 & 130:60. And there would not be any negativ...

Imprint bearings...?

The second Elite novella, Imprint , by Andy Redman, published in the back of the 1991 Elite Plus "basic flight manual", on the following pages, refer to the following directions/bearings in the context of flight/combat scenarios: p. i2: "20: 40" p. i16: "50: 80", "...

Re: Travelogue: The Hunt For Edzaar

If you want to optimise your travelogue a bit, I hope the following format with launch time might streamline things somewhat for you: DDDD-DDD:HH:MM System Any other details and interesting occurrences. Oh, that is an excellent suggestion. That's such a good suggestion that I'm kicking myself a bit...

Re: Travelogue: The Hunt For Edzaar

Aahhh... O.K. Thanks. Interesting... dayChanged.

In other news: I'll have to postpone updating the travelogue spreadsheet for the moment, right now, as RL interrupts and distracts... but I should be back on duty at least by the weekend. <o

22 days, 5 hours, for anyone interested in how many dayChanged events a player encounters.
I'm interested. :) ...But does "dayChanged events" mean?
