An alternative weapon is discussed a lot, having writen PrimableLaser.oxp one of the problems is to trigger killed events for NPC's. The player is not credited for the kills he makes with those type of weapons, but only score and credits can be simulated. That causes a problem for mission targets.

Well you can get killed easily on oolite so why not pay taxes .

Although we are currently working on a similar project, the difference is you do not own the station but you contribute to building it. Storm has done brilliant models for it and we have started to script it but it is a slow going one atm.

But using missionscreens inflight is simply a bad design decision for OXPs as it takes away control from the player. That would be the only reason I'd ever use them in flight - the player wouldn't be in control, they would be a kind of holding screen whilst a script does all sorts of weirdness that...

Galaxy Info gives some usefull information to the player about the galaxy the player is in. And just bought a round for the 500 th download of this oxp at the IRC channel.
