Ah. Thread evolution.

Sorry 'bout the absence and anything I missed. Processor failure meant I had to wait 'til payday to get the PC sorted. G/f was not impressed.

Cheers! <gulps ale> True. Some African writers who *can* write in English due to their education choose not to, because of the Colonial issues it raises (i.e. telling an African (Nigerian, Kenyan, whatever, or indeed tribal) story through the medium of the 'oppressor'/invader). And of course similar...

Tbh I don't think there is any disagreement. Language does evolve. Certain vernacular usages become 'prestige' and are widely adopted. Eventually, if they hang around long enough/become popular fast enough, they enter the language (i.e. 'cowabunga' - who the hell says that anymore? Yet it was once '...

All I can say in my own defence is, I'm an English Lang and Lit graduate, and the course had a heavy-ish slant toward linguistics. I'm sure I'm not the only one (please don't let me be the only one! :) ). I'm also a writer. It's what I laughably refer to as my trade. That all means I tend to be a li...

Yep, you're is a contraction of you are, so the apostrophe appears to replace the dropped letter 'a'. However, for a bit of context, perhaps it was just a typo. Internet boards and emails are often rife with them, just because they are quick 'type it and send' messages. In any case, surely 'your' fo...

I'm thinking of trying my hand at a bit of fic - assuming I can fit it in between other projects.

Yep, agree about Vasques :D My other half just thinks its another mid life crisis, that going back 25 years to Elite, now in Oolite, is "living in the past"? Oh yes, but now we have shader graphics, Griff's ships, Drew's novels and check out Mr. Thargoid's weapons systems  As a fan ...

'Nother newbie (though this isn't my first post; I stopped off to report a bug first). Oolite does just get better and better, to the point where I can now ditch the Speccy emulator. This game is what my mates and I used to speculate and dream about while we should have been doing schoolwork. 20+ ye...

This was taken at the Witchpoint, and looks like a planet in front of a huge one, but is in fact a double image. Removing System Redux stops the problem. I don't think that "System Redux" is to blame. It adds some very big planets, but far away. The problem is orbits. It was yelling depre...

JazHaz: Very similar. I'll hook the oxps you and Eric Walch mention and see what happens with which oxp gone (I think I have both installed...).

JazHaz: Cheers for the info. I checked the Wiki first rather than just come on here and risk people going 'Info on the Wiki, mate' (though I also saw Wiki problems). Thargoid: Thanks for that. I just wondered if there were known issues/works in progress. Obviously I wasn't expecting everything to wo...

Got the following re: incompatiable oxps: Asteroid Storm 3.55 Drones 1.11 Flying Dutchman Military Fiasco 2.4.4 Thargoid Wars 4.4 UPS Courier v1.6.1 Wiki says Asteroid Storm and Thargoid Wars will be sorted, but is there any news on if or when the others might be upgraded? PS...

I had this as well. Didn't twig first time but I was apparently at very low altitude. EDIT: Also, I'm seeing HUGE planets. Jumped into Ensoreus system and actually saw a smaller 'Earth-like' planet in front of another, massive 'Earth-like' planet...but couldn't find the main station anywhere. No Nav...
