lol, is that as opposed to slightly fatal ones?!
Or as Blackadder would say:

Apologies to any non-UK people who have no idea what I'm talking about

another technique to follow the initial long or short sniping period, which i picked up from flying the caduceus with it's broadside cannons, is to seat yourself firmly on the side of the ship (F3/ F4 or external), and use the roll controls as up/down, and rudder controls as left/right, keeping you...

Thanks FeelGone.

I need to brush up on my aft laser skills, and what better way to do it than with a laser chasing my behind!

Well I had varying levels of success last night. 1) Stopping as soon as I see an enemy group Surprisingly effective - had never considered not rushing in head first, laser blazing. Sat still and managed to pick off one of the group with a military laser before they got their range and I had to move....

Recently bought one of these: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/gaming/controllers/devices/288 and I'm very happy with it. Works perfectly under both Windows and Linux. Having 12 programmable buttons allow one to configure it quite nicely... Care to share your configuration with us? I have that control...

Right, sounds like I need to go away and practice with my rear laser.

(Goes away to line up some coke cans on the back wall...)

Need to practice with the rear laser - I got frustrated quickly last time as I kept forgetting the controls were reversed!

Group dogfight tactics

What tactics do people use for dogfighting large groups of ships? When I have encountered groups of 3 offenders, I tend to try and pick at least one off from distance (I'll go for the one that's hitting me with its laser) and then go for the next dangerous one. However, when I encounter larger group...

Thanks guys. That would probably work. However, it's a moot point now: I went back to the planet for the 20th time, started getting ripped apart by acurate lasers. This time I managed to destroy the fleet by picking off one, zooming away to let shields recover and then re-engaging. Didn't find the t...

Random Hits - abandon mission without leaving galaxy?

As those of you who saw my first post will know, I'm pottering round G2 in a Cobra Mk I, and getting blown to bits fairly consistently. I need cash to upgrade to a Mk III but the 400-500 credits per easy Random Hits mission (plus the travel time) was just going to take too long. So I thought I'd pic...

This is where the fuel scoops pay for themselves. Drop out of hyperspace and head straight for the sun under jump-drive. While you're on the way set the co-ordinates for the next planet. At the sun, as soon as your fuel tank is full (or even when there's enough fuel for the next jump), hit the hype...

Ok - some great tips there. Thank you everyone. It sounds like I need to do some hunting and collect some cargo and start saving for my next ship although I'll miss my Mk 1, we've been through a lot together. So I need, MK 3, militar lasers, fueld injectors, fuel scoops, heat shields, military shiel...

Yup - wanted some cash early on to buy military laser (trading was a bit too slow for me)

Sounds like I need to get some cash then...

Thanks both for the tips.

Am I missing something

Firstly I have to say I'm so glad I found this game. I remember being in awe of the graphics on the BBC... Next up, I tried to get the username Flashheart but I suspect there's another Blackadder fan out there who's already taken it... Now my question: I've just moved into G2 and completed the Const...
