Thanks for the replies, i did go back to 1.73, noticed a big difference in the lighting, much better in 1.74, as to the original problem it seems to be fine in 1.73 memory usage never seemed to climb too high in 1.73 yet in 1.74 constantly climbling till the system refuses to respond, ahh well still...
