Re: Mission packs and the grind
Becoming a Local Hero™ could be a possibility … complete enough missions in or for a particular system and (depending on what the missions are) people regard you as someone to look up to. Passing merchant ships hail you by name, or with a friendly "Right on, Commander!"; the system statio...

Re: Right arrow key doesn't work on status screen
Perhaps it's a dumb question, but part of my job is doing software support, and I know that even questions like this can solve problems: Can you rule out the keyboard itself? Does Ctrl-Up work in other programs? Did my own stint in customer support, so I know, but yes, xev reports it loud and clear...

Re: Right arrow key doesn't work on status screen
I have a similar problem: when flying, my CTRL-UP precision direction control doesn;t work, it does nothing. The other three directions, LEFT, RIGHT, DOWN, with or without CTRL, work as advertised, as well as the uncontrolled UP key. This gives me major headaches whenever I encounter pirates. I die...

Re: UPS Courier 1.8.4: [ups_splanetname] bug
Indeed, this fine oxp is quite complex and sadly a bit deprecated. Maybe I'll tackle with it again some day. Not in the near future though. Anyway, there's a strange ":" just after "ups_splanetname" on the line 57 in the ups_docs.js file. Removing that might be a remedy to the e...

UPS Courier 1.8.4: [ups_splanetname] bug
I've had several UPS courier missions, which went fine, except the destination system is always(?) displayed as "[ups_splanetname]" instead of the actual name. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16982421/Oolite_bug(shrunk).png The system in question is marked with a Magenta X on the galax...

Re: What would a 'real' spaceship actually look like?
Why all the thought? A sphere is the ideal shape for anything moving through space. Look out side. A rain drop is round not tear shaped. Planets, suns, even galaxies try to be spherical. Construction: Blow a bubble in space, It'll be round. No brainer. Yeah, I said upthread geodesic spheres were th...

Re: What would a 'real' spaceship actually look like?
from what source did you get this information? everything i have read, including the link i previously posted , disagrees with your statement. NASA has photographs of asteroids and they are not clumps of loose rubble. https://www.librarything.com/topic/169064 Probably a science fiction book, and I ...

Re: What would a 'real' spaceship actually look like?
Ahem, many (most?) asteroids consist of rubble clumped together by gravitational accident: from what source did you get this information? everything i have read, including the link i previously posted , disagrees with your statement. Re: Fastest route to riches
There is: buy an Advanced Space Compass, and you'll be able to target their beacon from the witchpoint exit or anywhere. I think you need the RHL OXP (or something similar) for that. Thanks. I would have left him stranded halfway there without your addendum. I possibly added the RHL even bef...

Re: Fastest route to riches
The combat rep vs courier rep tip was helpful... I was not aware there was a difference. Unfortunately I missed one of my first deliveries as it took too long to cross the galaxy but that advanced navigation array sure does help! The "you picked the wrong passenger" message at least tips ...

Re: What would a 'real' spaceship actually look like?
as for the asteroid belt ,well it is mostly empty space. the belt is not at all like it is depicted in SciFi movies/books/TV. but there is some interesting stuff out there. Assuming we can get out there,I dont think waiting till it gets to earth is a good idea. mining should start as it is on its w...

Re: [UPDATED RELEASE 03-07-2014] Superhub V1.6 OXZ
So I'm thinking they came with the binary release of 1.82: https://github.com/OoliteProject/oolite/releases/download/1.82/oolite-1.82.linux-x86.tgz There is only one OXP installed with the official Oolite binaries and it is the Debug.oxp, which is required for communication with the Debug Console. ...
