I also notice that it seems that SDC causes NPC traffic at pirate coves, albeit they are set up to not have it. At least something seems to be causing NPC traffic at them and SDC is the most likely candidate.

For what it's worth, my current sentiment is that the current implementation of rock hermits is spot on. IMHO the market isn't economical enough even without pirate cove. With current core, docking at a good hermit can grant you ~500 cr via precious metal trade if it's sold at a high price (but still not for maximum, maybe gold at 41, platinum 77, gems 22). It seems there is a problem if a pirate cove gets destroyed, or likely if some station gets destroyed in general; it's just that I destroy pirate coves regularly and it seems the problem happens in some system from the point on when I have destroyed the cove after jumping in but not previously. Splinters are still processed even though the processor is damaged. I suspect it's because of the hardwiring. I don't recall whether I had the processor still available as primable, but that should not have been the case, so manual procesing (and scanning) should have been unavailable.

Is it correct that the player versions only have 5ly fuel ? That is a total knock out criterion for journeys (parcel contracts etc).
