I did a short test of the balance OXP yesterday evening.
IMHO the game became a little bit easier. On one occasion I was beaten by 3 pirates. One was a Moray Star Boat firing an ECM hardened missile at me only a few meters away. My ECM didn't help much. 2 seconds later I had to press space...

For my personal preference the balance adjustment OXP that cim posted here makes the game's starting difficulty right. It's difficult but not impossible to survive combat situations, and doesn't make the start a cake-walk. In terms of combat I don't think anyone should expect to engage 4 or more ho...

Yes, beside the game balancing problems and the increased uselessness of normal missiles (it seems that _every_ ship you encounter has an ECM system installed), Oolite 1.80 has been improved in many ways. My frustration goes so far that I considered cheating to regain the game balance I prefer...
