Re: Reporting spam

Archlinux solved spam problems by having anyone who registers for an account enter the output of a linux console command. Anybody with access to a linux system can easily solve it, but none of the spamming firms went through the trouble to investigate it, they just gave up. Clever, but not particul...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

No such thing as unconnected when they operate in the same universe instead of parallel ones. There are myriads of ways to exploit that, though how many of them – if any – would be practical within the ED framework is a different question. Thing is, people wold still try , and in doing so they would...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

In other news, it seems that there may not be multiple characters per account - only one commander slot. I inferred as much when they dropped solo offline. With the whole every-action-affects-every-player thing, someone having one main commander and several feeder ones whose only purpose is to make...

Re: Hoopy Casino

Had a closer look at the commodities market and it's really broken. The price differences are way off the scale to be that close to the main station. At Zaonce a double price for Gems. I don't think ambiance justifies that. I think I'll just put in the main station market and nullify the commoditie...

I think you may have been spending too much time in forums that are not the friendliest this side of Riedquat. :D
I've no idea how any of the above posts could even remotely be construed as personal attacks.

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Fair enough. I still think the wording is bad; It's quite easy to get the point across without saying "we're gonna do whatever we want, and there's nothing you can do about it" – repeatedly. When you've invited people to have their say, it's common courtesy to at least leave them with the ...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

Those who understand the big picture and those who believe they own the game and have a right to all the features they could dream of. For a Kickstarter based game I find it a bit worrying when the designers use phrases like "It's our game". I don't like the vibe it gives off. In fact, it...

Re: Hoopy Casino

It seems that it was the intent of the original author of this oxp to create an easily exploitable market. Conversation at the beginning of this thread and the flavor text in wiki imply that. Now the question is, should we keep it that way and let it break the game (to some degree) or should someth...

Re: David Braben's Elite: Dangerous

I'm still coming to terms with the idea of charging suckers to beta test, rather than paying them. If it's done right, it can be a Good Thing™. I've been enjoying Prison Architect , which has been in early-access alpha for over two years now. They ship a new version each month, and you'd be excused...

Re: [Release] Coluber HUD No. 1

Why does the status "green" light flash? I can understand yellow or red flashing to draw attention to immanent doom etc., but to my way of thinking green should be the "everything calm, no need for a flashing light" state. It's the same light, the different colours are achieved ...

Re: Have I got my set-up wrong or am I a poor bounty hunter?

Looking at the Wiki, it seems like Random Hits used to include the Gnat, but that it was removed in a recent version. If you've had the mission running for a while, that could be the explanation. Installing the Gnat might solve the problem: https://app.box.com/shared/rpkms25cc9/1/31414656/9201389665...

Re: Have I got my set-up wrong or am I a poor bounty hunter?

As the Obese Foilage points out, unless your mark becomes distracted by something shiny, it'll be on the Witchspace-Station route. One small thing, since I've seen elsewhere that you have been tinkering a bit lately: If you remove an OXP that contains the mark's ship, it will never appear in the sys...

Re: Where can I find my ship in the relevant shipdata.plist

Yes I did ask specifically about the Python ET Special. But what I really wanted to know was how does one find a ship in the various oxps in general? - rather than having to post here and bother all the experts every time. To use the specifics to illustrate the general: Python ET – that's a quick s...
