Re: [Release] Better fuel burning rates for small ships

Small ships burn less fuel when using injectors: - Adder: -40% - Moray: -24% - Cobra MK1: -10% - Fer De Lance: -10% Those ships have a small cargo bay so they are better used for contracts or bounty hunting than for trading or mining. An improved burning rate means that the player can be more confi...

OK, version 0.1.3 is now available which will (fingers-crossed) fix the issues with the Thargoid wreckage missions and the rescue stranded ship missions.
Thanks!

Re: [WIP] GalCop Missions

One more thing about the Thargoid wreckage -- it would be nice if the alloys from all thargoid warhips were accepted: pathinders, guardians, etc., since there are a lot more than plain warships in interstellar space (at least with some common OXPs installed?) If you do make the change to only accept...

Re: [WIP] GalCop Missions

And confirmed. There is a definite bug with the Thargoid wreckage mission. I'm thinking I'm going to rework all the "find Xt of specific cargo and return it" missions, so that (a) the mission is updated only when the cargo is handed in, (b) to have a "hand in current cargo and contin...

Re: [WIP] GalCop Missions

Collect Thargoid wreckage seems buggy. Sometimes the alloy I collect in interstellar space ups the count, sometimes it does not. I return to the source station with interstellar alloy in my hold, and try to do Hand in current load (partial), and nothing changes sometimes. If I then sell the alloy on...

Re: Ore Processor

Or, you could use the Vacuum Pump, which is what I did when I was mining for precious metals/gems with a ship with a tiny hold. There are some bugs in Vacuum Pump that I fixed at one point but didn't get submitted back to the released OXP. Maybe I'll try to repeat those fixes again now that I'm Ooli...

New version on the way.
Great, thanks!

Re: [WIP] GalCop Missions

I scooped a black box from the aftermath of a battle, and it automatically put me on to a GalCop mission I didn't want (I was busy with something else), and I had to pay a penalty when it failed. Bug or feature? p.s. thanks for this OXP! It would be nice for the pirate missions if there could be sli...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

Placing the game on a forced escalation trajectory I think is antithetical to the spirit of the game: you choose your own place in the ooniverse, and the ooniverse keeps on keepin' on despite your doings. This is a major feature and attraction of the game. Much better is to find ways to keep each pr...

Re: With which OXP's do you guys rumble the Ooniverse?

I tend towards not modding the basic look (other than HUD), or adding too many ships (right now just Clippers and Contractor MkII, love to fly that ship as a pro bounty hunter/parcel courier, and Behemoth), but the absolutely first things I always without install on a new game install are RandomHits...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

It's not just harder, it's slower. If you failed your first docking attempt in elite (as I did all those years ago) then you could be back at the station attempting the same within two or three minutes, that usually takes considerably longer in oolite. There is the Lave Academy and combat simulator...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

And consider this: OK let's say there's a start mode with 10,000 Cr, injectors, fore and aft beam laser, shield boosters, etc. Beginners will still die in droves at first. Why? Because it takes effort to learn this game: it rewards the player who delves into the details and sticks to it and keeps co...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II

To be a fair comparison vs. original elite you would have to erase all of your accumulated knowledge of strategy, flight/dogfighting skills and tactics, docking, trade, etc., everything you've learned about the game over the years/decades. But I'd tend to agree that oolite is harder. I never said oo...

Re: Oolite 2.0 or II (was Re: Why is Diso so Dangerous)

First of all it has nothing to do with being "elitist." We are all here (well most of us probably) because we loved the original. A volunteer project has absolutely no need to "win over beginners" in order to survive, it is not a commercial enterprise. And I think "easy star...

Re: Why is Diso so Dangerous

However, I can't help myself but push again the idea that BGS should be installed by default as an OXP........having no engine sound is just too weird. And I in turn have to again scream NO! As somebody who finds the plethora of not-always-appropriate sound affects distracting (and therefore un-wel...
