Re: THE DEATH OF OOLITE > ELITE DANGEROUS
I backed Elite: Dangerous, and I'm eagerly looking forward to it. But I don't think it'll compete directly with Oolite. Oolite, despite all its new features and extra eye-candy, still feels to me like playing the original Elite. I'm expecting E:D to be more like a total reboot of the Elite universe...

Re: Is it time to 'fix' the Anaconda?
There is clearly a problem with your measurements. The Adder is 30m wide, the cargo container is 9.6m long. Obviously three containers have to fit into the Adder's width, not just one. I won't have another debate over sizes and scales in Oolite, it's boring because it doesn't get anywhere. At the e...

Re: Is it time to 'fix' the Anaconda?
… well assuming 1TC is 1 cubic meter … But it isn't, because the size of the standard cargo container is as well known as the size of the ship. It's 9.6m long and about 6m across. I did the calculation for its exact volume here , if you're interested. Like I said it depends on how you define 1TC. A...

Re: Oolite Darwin Awards
First time I deployed a quirium cascade mine... Arrowing into the midst of a swarm of pirates with the Witchspace fuel injectors lit up, deployed mine, watched the pirates streaming behind me falling off the scanner waiting for the mine to deal my righteous fire only to watch with horror as the casc...

Re: Is it time to 'fix' the Anaconda?
I guess for many it depends on whether you believe its possible to fit all those cannisters inside an Anaconda, well assuming 1TC is 1 cubic meter (which I do) this is what 750 of the blighters look like

Re: Elite: Dangerous - Design Decision Forum
One thing is for sure, it's not a discussion forum, so I don't reply to posts there. Frontier have promised that they read all suggestions though, so I have posted a few if the subject intrests me. Appart from that I'm on the look out for suggestions from Frontier that in my view will take it too f...

Re: 1.77 for OXPers
What are the pirates flying? Specifically, are you using OXPs which routinely give pirates military lasers? The NPC versions of those weapons have been upgraded in 1.77 to match the player spec, which makes them more deadly on the initial attack run (after that they'll have overheated ... unless th...

Re: Plasna Cannons
Buy a ship that has plasma turrets, if you want them as a weapon. There is a choice of ships which have them installed. Alas this would mean having to part with my beloved Boa Class Cruiser and Griffs excellent detailing, Not to worry though..I am quiet happy with exclusively fore and aft cannons, ...

Re: Is it time to 'fix' the Anaconda?
Got to say I was a little split about this at first, on the one hand regardless of coffee stained typos it was 750 in the original and so should remain true to its roots here but on the other by Frontier the Anaconda had shrunk considerably and was smaller than the Boa. I can see the argument for ad...

Re: What type of new ships would people like to see as OXPs
Thanks,
editing plists is about as far as I've got modding so far, but I might have a play with wings when I can find the time.
I was an Elite player back in the eighties and only discovered oolite a few weeks ago, I'ts amazing how quickly I got drawn in, its like the last 30 years never happened!

Re: What type of new ships would people like to see as OXPs
I fly my Asp Mark IV (Poison Ivy) :) I wish i had the ability to actually model a new ship but instead it uses a unique texture from someone elses asp II replacement oxp, ie its different to all the other mark II variants I meet in game. She's about 10% quicker, has 5 pylons! (mostly for fuel tanks,...
