Re: Cargo Conditions
Computers/Machinery turning into alloys during a jump does strike me as a bit far-fetched. Not so far-fetched; my little boxen, that runs Oolite at a blistering 7 FPS, is going to transmute into e-waste in October, if Microsoft's propaganda is to be believed. (Since I can't update it to Windows 11,...

Re: Cargo Conditions
Suppose that a cargo bay must be fitted to a particular standard in order to ship goods through witchspace. Suppose further that this standard varied according to goods being shipped. It seems to me, you might be trying to re-invent the passenger cabin for other purposes. If so, you might consider ...

Re: Limit equipment for a vessel
In most cases, they are setting the condition_script property of the equipment, and doing the check in that code for whether the equipment can be installed. As you'd be working with existing equipment, you'd need to utilise the equipment-overrides.plist file so you could apply your condition_script...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
is that the only use of nano? No, it was published in 1995, so has all the ideas about how nanotech could develop that were current at that time, liquid metal etc. (And, it's been more than 25 years since I read it, so I don't recall details.) The problem is that it's a stupidly unfocused and long ...

Update Explorers' Club? No. A cocoanut fell on my head. It was quite distracting.

Re: Limit equipment for a vessel
I'm trying to find out if there is a mechanism in shipyard.plist or shipdata.plist to prevent the purchase of standard equipment, a bit like what incompatible_with_equipment does in equipment.plist . That somewhat goes against the spirit of the game; there's a clue in the phrase " standard equ...

Re: Limit equipment for a vessel
You have already done this with several pieces of equipment in your shipyard.plist for this ship. The equipment you have commented out ( // preceding the item) in the optional_equipment section of the code will prevent your ship from being able to purchase that equipment. Alternatively you could si...

Re: The Jetsons landed in Saudi Arabia, apparently
Change of Subject. Oolite. Excuse you. How rude. What sort of changes would you like to see in the game? Just thought of one: asteroids that are claimed by big mining companies. So, when the player vaporizes a random asteroid in the spacelanes, instead of a 1cr reward for clearing a navigation haza...

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
I would have accepted films like Idiocracy, Colossus, Terminator, Slaughterbots as point-scoring answers. It was supposed to be an instruction manual, not a warning: The anti-example was, of course, Edward Luttwak's 1968 classic, Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook . Over to you. well i got a cyclone ...

Re: The Jetsons landed in Saudi Arabia, apparently
Jetsons? They were a family who lived in a retro-futuristic, flattened-ovoid-shaped dwelling in the 1960s. There was a television documentary series made about them. Digression: In the 1980s, I had the opportunity to purchase a Futuro house dirt cheap, and [additional words go here] did not. It was...

Saudi Arabia’s Overwater Villas Look Fake… But They’re Real! https://youtu.be/Xaz-E69SDRw?si=uxs_GOHybf5drZpV When I first saw Kara and Nate’s video on Saudi Arabia’s newest overwater villas, I honestly thought it was AI-generated. The futuristic design, the sleek architecture, and the way the villa...

Re: Oolite Website Domain
Trying https to bb.oolite.space has been giving 525 (SSL Handshake Failed) and 504 (Gateway Time-out) errors for the last few hours. Using http instead got me here on the first try. Apparently, your SSL certificate has expired.
