Re: How Does Avoiding the Spacelanes Break Gameplay?
This is an awesome topic :). For me the concept of lanes and the concept of torus drive have been a total game/immersion killer. I just can't get around the conflict in my mind about a non-player centric Ooniverse where I can drive around in god mode while everyone else drives sluggishly in nice li...

Re: Any combat tips?
Just made the first kill of my current game! It was a lucky find. Found a lone Fer-de-lance in the space lane on my way to Tsionla. He had an offender status, so I targeted him. Tried to take a few shots with my military laser, but the dang thing overheated too fast, so I used my fuel injectors to ...

Re: Any combat tips?
I am not a noob. I've been playing Oolite for years now. However, when it comes to combat I may as well be a noob. When I attempt combat, I die probably 75% of the time. I do use a keyboard instead of a controller, but killing them pirates still shouldn't be impossible. So, any tips for how to come...

The energy bomb can be OXPed back if you want. The OXP is available from the in-game expansions manager. More info here: http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Energy_Bomb Yes, I read about that in the wiki section. It's nice that people may add it if they want to. I haven't yet installed it as I think a...

… and I think you need a vacant pylon before they're offered. Pirate kibble - keeping a few TCs of Food on hand to throw to the wolves when they're getting too close - is a cheaper option! Okay, just checked - I had all pylons equipped with missiles so that was the reason no quirium cascade mine wa...

Times they are a changing ...
As I have written in an earlier post , I've been out of the Ooniverse for about six years and I must admit that during this hiatus, I didn't follow the forum. So when I got into that Cobra Mk. III and headed for the stars to find my luck, I didn't know of the changes that had been made to Oolite in ...

Re: The Oolite chatroom
One week into the game, Cr. 28K in the bank and finished a passenger delivery to Ara. Those two anachist pirates were too easy a target and got roasted by that shiny new military laser I had just purchased. But the best thing is: after docking I noticed that I got promoted to 'Mostly Harmless' ... b...

Re: OXP installation through manager fails with download version 1.84 -
@CmdrGumbo Did you have any chance with the manual workaround suggested by a_c? Ah, yes. Sort of: I installed the version provided by the Linux Mint apt repos (in this case it's Oolite 1.82) which is able to download all the OXPs (I guess Linux Mint comes with a GNUStep library that has TLS support...

Re: Smuggling in vanilla Oolite?
In vanilla Oolite you can purchase narcotics or firearms from any station you like, but if you dock at a mainstation with those goods you'll be penalised. I thought you can always bring in narcotics etc. without punishment, but if you leave a station with such cargo you will be penalised. That way ...

Re: Fuel Scooping
Wouldn't that be in contradiction to the available fuel-scoop mechanism Not quite. [begin handwave] The fuel scoop takes fuel from outside the ship into the main tanks. Fuel containers are in your cargo hold. The magnetic seals on the containers are designed around a one-way transfer from the fuel ...

Re: Fuel Scooping
wouldn't there be some risk involved? So you run the risk of equipment damage during the transfer? That would certainly be worth considering. I'm also thinking that it wouldn't be an instantaneous transfer - 0.1ly per 3 secs or something like that, with a chance of damage on each iteration. Wouldn'...

Despite the Ambience Collection and Famous Planets OXPs (those two are eye-candy must-haves for me), I also installed: - SpaceTaxi - In System Taxi - Liners - Station Dock Control - Wildships - Planetfall - HD Backgrounds (more eye-candy, yay!) - Life on the Frontier (just curious about it) - Hyperr...

Re: Fuel Scooping
Version 1.1 the FuelTweaks OXP is now available. Heeding all the advice about "tweaking", the OXP is now fully tweakable, either by playing with settings in the "fuelTweaks_fuelEconomy.js" file, or by using Javascript functions. Here's some of the possibilities: Have normal fuel...

The version distributed by us did not support HTTPS downloads up to and including version 1.84. We do support this in our currently in-development 1.85 version though. You can download the latest development version from our nightlies repository on github and this will let you downlaod successfully...
