Oolite Bulletins

I propose I change the OXPs link from the [wiki]Oolite Main Page[/wiki] to go directly to the [wiki]OXP List[/wiki]. This would be in accordance with the ships, stations, missions, and equipment links which all go to a list directly.

On the OXP List page I would add links to the [wiki]OXP[/wiki] and to a new OXP Installation page at the top directly below the header so newbies still figure out what this is and how to install it. The new OXP Installation page would contain the relevant section from the OXP page where I would remove it from.

Any reason to not do this?

I'm in two minds about this, Maik. I can see the logic in what you're suggesting, but OXPs are a special case (different from ships, stations etc), and it does also seem sensible to have a 'general information' page like the current one as the first stop from the main page.
Sorry for sitting on the fence a bit, but as 'newbies' will find the general info (how to install etc) probably even more useful than the list, I wonder if a re-work of the existing first page might be a better bet.

I agree it is important that newbies get information to be up and running as quickly as possible, but they only need it once or maybe twice. Afterwards you want to get to the OXP List quickly and skip the stuff you already know and which never changes (until Oolite 2 at least ). Still, the links at the top of the OXP List that I propose are meant to cover their requirements.

But thanks to your concern I just had another idea: I'm just going to change the text about OXPs on the [wiki]Oolite Main Page[/wiki] to include a link to the OXP List. That way both newbies and impatient old timers like me are served. Thanks!

That would work. I notice that the main page 'box' also mentions something about new OXPs being posted there, which they're not. Links to the current first page and the list are all that are needed there, I agree.
