My nine year old will be heart-broken, she loves Sarah Jane as much as she does Amy Pond.

Hell of a surprise! Haven't seen much of her in classic Who, but from what I have she was a good companion... Sad news indeed...

I remember her from time as Tom Baker's assistant, but my nine year old discovered the Sarah Jane Adventures and with the Dr Who cross-overs she's become a huge Matt Smith/Dr Who fan too. Proper Sci-Fi for kids - home grown and very good.
