Hi All,

I did not have much time lately work on the OXP, but had some time during the week end.

After a while I saw the first method was not easily maintable and I changed the code to use call backs. And implemented Kaks's original idea by the new method.

Before going to AI's to do clever things, I will concentrate on the player initiated conversations.

At the moment I would like to add certain dialogs to the following ships with primary role trader,police,station and hunter. I am not sure if a sensible conversation can be done with the buoys :D.

So if you could post your suggestions about main dialog options, and answers that may be displayed randomly, it will be a great help.

As an Example;

To the station
___Have you got any gurmet restaurants?(Main option)
_____Yes 50%(Secondary option)
_______Which evil drinks you have?(Third Level Option)
__________something evil 2%(Result)
__________something quite evil 5%(Result)
__________haven't got any (Result)
______No
____.........(more options)
The options may be kept up to four for each selection. Results can be any length.

Ok to get this discussion to go on I propose the trader dialogue options. Feel free to add.

To>trader

You to Trader comms

Main menu

1. Ask if trader need protection (escort offer)
2 Ask to trade
3 Demand Trader to jettison cargo
4 Announce Attack on trader
5 Ask for money

Option 1 level 2 (Ask if trader need protection (escort offer))
Possible answer from traders:

yes
No

if yes:

1. Offer trader to escort for 100 CR
2. Offer trader to escort for 200 CR
3. Offer trader to escort for 300 CR
4. Offer trader to escort for 400 CR

if no:

then back to main menu>

Option 2 level 2 ( Ask to trade)

1. Ask trader which products he has to offer
2. Ask trader for fuel
3. Ask trader for equipment
4. offer a product to trade

Option 2 suboption 1 (level) 3

1. Accept offer and pay
2. Refuse offer -- if refuse then go back one level

Option 2 suboption 2 (level) 3

1. Accept offer and pay
2. Refuse offer -- if refuse then go back one level

Option 2 suboption 3 (level) 3

1. Accept offer and pay
2. Refuse offer -- if refuse then go back one level

Option 2 suboption 4 (level) 3

I don't know how to work this out. But possibly within a mission screen?

1. Choose product -(mission screen??) - 2. choose selling price per unit-- 3-- complete offer-- send message? Then your answer is refused or accepted

Trading then works as follows

The party that offers a product jettison the cargo containers the buyer scoops them up?

Option 3 level 2 (Demand Trader to jettison cargo, A polite way to play pirate)

After demanding by you the other party either accepts after the ships drops the cargo and flees. But probably alarms the police. OR he goes into attack mode. OR if there are ships in range he calls for help

Option 4 level 2 (Announce attack, A less polite way to play pirate but more polite than just attacking without announcing)

After you announce your attack he goes into attack mode. OR if there are ships in range he calls for help.

Option 5 level 2 (Ask for money)

This is built in in the current comms demo. But is it possible to have a chance of traders who get annoyed and start either calling you names or ask you to get lost or even start attacking you?

Trader to you comms

Ideas

A trader can have all options that you can have. In addtion to that is that traders can get annoyed if you stay to long within a certain range. For example if you creep up to the six of an Anaconda the trader contacts you and ask what you are doing or what your intentions are. If you don't answer you get a warning or an insult. If you still stay then the Anaconda Either tries to flee or ask his escorts to attack you.

I've got a problem with traders shooting me...or shooting the derelict ship I'm trying to recover.
What about a bribe (or a threat) to get them to back off?

about the pirates or group of pirates:

Ask to join them
Ask them to stop shooting you i. Exchange for cargo or money.

I am quite busy with other things at the moment, and I am trying to understand the AI's lately so It is a bit on hold at the moment. I will probably have a look at a later stage. And also there is not enough interest on this OXP for the time being.
