"Phantom" kills in 1.75

I've noticed a couple of times that in combat, the HUD & scanner show a ship as dead (jump is available and the ship is a white dot) while the ship is still on-screen. Usually the next shot will kill the ship. Anyone else seen this?

You get this if the pilot has ejected.

And it's nothing new in 1.75.

If the pilot ejects, the ship becomes a derelict. The necessary equipment provided, you can harvest its remaining fuel, or salvage the whole ship. Or blow it up for a kill (I think the kill is only awarded on destruction of the ship, not on ejection of the pilot).

BTW, derelict ships regain their energy. Thus, if you wait a little longer, you'll have to pump it full of your laser in order to kill it.
