As per title, currently I am on a reserve mission to destroy a pirate base. I've been all over the system and killed everything in sight, but I still do not see the pirate base. Is there something that I need to do to track down the pirate base?

If you know what a rock hermit looks like... It is one of those. Look for a very smooth grey round asteroid. Then target it and see what it targets as. It should be either in or very near the space lane between the witchpoint beacon and the planet.

One problem might be that your fellow ships already have killed the base before you do. At least that is often the case for me when doing the mission. And it does not really matter for the outcome of the mission. The only important thing is that is gets destroyed.
The only thing I noticed that the station defense ships have no bounty description. Seeing that, at least gives you a clue that the station must have been there somewhere.

There's the Rock Hermit Locator OXP, not sure if it works for the pirate base though.

Next time I get one of these missions I will try that OXP out to see if it works for me.

When I did replay the mission I did manage to find the hermit base with the help provided above, thanks
