screen obscured by messages

The messages that appear saying you have engaged hyperdrive, missile enable, etc, do not clear automaticaly.I can get them to clear a bit by going from forward to aft view several times but this does not do a good job.
Very annoying
Any ideas?

First of all hi Jimb, and welcome to the boards and of course to this great game!
I've got the same question here as El Viejo. The Sticky-Messages-Bug™ is very familiar from Oolite 1.65, the latest 'official' release.
However, we
strongly recommend using the latest test release, which is Oolite 1.74.2. Not only is it faster, shinier, and overall better than 1.65, it is also much more stable and reliable, and has every major bug of 1.65 fixed.
You find the download link here on the boards, in the second announcement of the forum which corresponds to your OS.

Cobra Mk III dangerous.
I have v1.74.3 now and it is a good improvement
BUT
It keeps crashing, every now and then, always just after a joystick button press.
I have tried to sent a message to the forum but it does not get through, so I am trying to reply eo this thread.
