Liners OXP

v1.6.1 now available. 22nd March, 2017. Release post for v1.6 is here.

Original post
Smivs and P A Groove are currently collaborating on a new Eye-Candy OXP to add Cruise Liners to the Ooniverse. The plan is to have several different types and sizes, which will appear infrequently mostly in 'stable' systems (although they will be well-protected just in case!). They will mostly be BIG so many will use the BigShips OXP/AI.
We already have a couple of suitable models available thanks to P A Groove's joint-efforts with ADCK and others, but would like more, so we are throwing this open for donations. If anyone has a big-ship model (either used before or awaiting a home) we would like to hear from you. We are quite happy to do the textures and do the work to integrate them into the OXP, or if anyone fancies supplying a 'ready-to-go' Liner, that would be great, too.
To give you an idea of where we're going, below is a 1500m long Leviathan which I'm currently working on based on one of ADCK's models. This is recognisably of my 'style', and is a work-in-progress and is not yet the finished article. We are looking for variety, though, and P A Groove's will no doubt have a very different 'feel' to them, and other styles would be more than welcome.
There is no hurry as we're both fitting this in around other projects.
If you have anything to offer and/or would like to get involved, contact me or PAG via PM or here on the Board.

Consider possible huge OXP stations as launching points and docking destinations. About the biggest I know of is SuperHub, which at least appears capable of handling very large ships.

That's what it meant for. But that sort of behavior has to be scripted. Also Killer Wolf created mooring points on his station.

But this OXP would be a merge of other separate liner oxp's so the appearance of certain ships could be better tweaked.

It's a little awkwardly named though, if it isn't meant to replace military.oxp...

It's OK, I used the term 'Leviathan' descriptively, to allude to it's great size, not as a name. It currently doesn't have an official name, but I suspect it might eventually be named 'LOositania' - unless sense takes over

That's a good enough name I guess.

Booring Oogalactic-Presents their new livery.

President Mul Fieos said that the new passengers will be amazed at the
on board facilities.

@Smivs I made a screenshot myself so you don't have to do that anymore.

But you still have to compile a oxp with the 2 versions in it.

OK. That's different to the one you sent me, which is much more 'lit-up' especially around the 'superstructure'. The one you've posted is better - less like a Christmas Tree :D

On the case. :)

It would be nice to have more than two liners in this OXP, so remember if anyone else has a suitable candidate, please let us know.

It's the same version but why are the 'wings' black on your screenshot?

EDIT

I like the lighting in your screenshot better. It shows that the emission map is actually working.

EDIT NR2

Probably this comes due to that I renamed the textures. So in my version the Emission map's don't work because the oxp wasn't altered in the right way.

I don't know...that's the way they looked.

I think it might be working too well...

I like it but you could try to tone it down a little.

I might try that, but it's your baby, and if you like it that way, that's the way it will be. I don't dislike it at all, it's just...very bright.

Well if you have the altered oxp version with 2 versions then send me a link.
I can then take a look at it.

On a related note. Some of the dockable liners and haulers should have that little extra. Maybe some scripters here could help. It would be great to have onboard Hoopy Casio's and a cruise office of UPS (maybe even with special UPS missions) could be great. Such as hauling packages from a liners to a certain station or other liners.

I might have one or two items to chuck into this too, although my schedule between now and Christmas is utterly ridiculous so it's best said I'll chuck them in if I manage to find a free nanosecond or two to get into a computer the thoughts that are in my mind...

@ Thargoid
All donations gratefully received :) There is no hurry as this is an on-going project that we're fitting in around other things, so release is sometime in the future (deliberately vague!).
