Do you meet all the requirements for the
Nova mission? Granted, there's only one besides being in galaxy 4.

Hi Totsy,
welcome to the board, the friendliest one this side of Riedquat!
For the Nova mission you need a galactic hyperdrive fitted. Did you find the
Wiki yet? There is a page about the
missions which lists the prerequisites.
Hope that helps,

I have a Galactic Hyperdrive fitted and I am currently in Galaxy 4
I also am running the latest Oolite version.

Can you load your save file into a text editor and search for the following text:
And tell us what the line below says?

Hi There
Thanks for finding the time to reply...much appreciated ;0)
It doesn't exactly say what you wrote in your post...it says the following...
<key>mission_novacount</key>
and underneath that line it says...
<string>0</string>

Hi Totsy and welcome... just to check, is that Oolite 1.74.2?

Well I would say that it hasn't yet triggered the mission. What I would suggest is to forget about it for a while, and fly about doing cargo/passenger missions etc etc, and it should trigger soon.

Yeah, I seem to remember I'd been in G4 for ages (with the Galactic Hyperdrive) before I got the Nova Mission, so just wait...It'll happen.
I actually completed the Nova Mission in a very un-conventional way and remained in G4 for a while afterwards.

Oops! Obviously there is a bug in the current version of the nova script, which causes the mission never to trigger (the novacount will never get incremented).
I'll inform the scripter.
EDIT: After examining the script closer I found that there is indeed a bug, however it shouldn't affect the mission (if anything it should trigger sooner than expected).
@ Totsy: can you please confirm that you're still in Galaxy 4, make a jump to the next system, dock at the main station, save your game, and post the same lines as above (the value for mission_novacount) from that new save-game? Thanks!

Hi There
I went to another planet and docked; I then saved the game so here are the two lines you asked for that are now in the text of saved oolite file...
<key>mission_novacount</key>
<string>1</string>
Hope that helps you to tell me what's happening!!!
Many Thanks

Do another 3 jumps then things might get warmer.
First thing to go are the seals on your fuel tank
