Oolite Bulletins

Hi Have only recently found this game and i am having some problems. I can run the 1.65 version without any problem. However I really want to run the latest version. When I use this version i get the text all blocked and the ships are flashing

my graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 4600 series. I have downloaded the latest drivers for the card

Has anyone got any ideas on what i need to do ?

Hi EiK and welcome… just to be sure, which ATI Catalyst version (or driver version) do you have installed?

Also, it might help the experts if you could post the Latest.log from a 1.74.2 game. It can be found at:
~\Oolite\oolite.app\Logs

There's been plenty of reports of this issue.

What it boils down to is that the Catalyst drivers for PCs don't have very good OpenGL support, at least not in parts of GL that Oolite depends on; that's especially true of Catalyst for Vista/7.
Surprisingly, ATI drivers for the Mac don't suck.

Us PC space aces tend to have better luck with nVidia and Matrox cards.

Hmm, have you tried starting the game with the -nosplash option?

A few people, some with ATI, some with NVIDIA cards, have had this kind of problem, and adding that -nosplash option seems to have done the trick so far...

Thanks I found that thread not long after posting this message, and yes it did work, thanks for the info though.

Loving the game brings back all memories of sitting on my bbc model b playing elite for hours on end always trying to get that ELITE status. Got there in the end

Def one of the best games I have played in years been adding a lot of the OXP's. Just found the grave yard been wanting to see that since the Dark Wheel. Shame all the ships are adders but still its amazing
