Gorgeous indeed, but I'll have to wait till I get to my friend's place for a download. My 3g network usb thinghy would smoke up in a sec.

I move this week end in Accra, Holiday Inn. They have a very good internet connection down there, 500 Mb in 3 h. I think this is the time I will spend on the beach...

Tonight I did some experiments with texture resizing. If I scale down all textures to a mere 256 x 192 you can get all Famous Planets (now 89 textures) to fit in 5.23 mb. With an average of 70 kb per texture one whole galaxy. For example Galaxy one would fith in 17 mb (on average). I'm seriously thinking about doing all of Galaxy 1 in low res.

But to begin I can upload Famous Planets 2.6. light next week. Do some people want a light version?

Hope you are feeling better.

Reducing the file/download size will certainly be helpfull for some people, so go ahead and do it if it's not too much work.

It's one of the must have eye candy OXP's so many will be gratefull.

Shouldn't that be 256 x 128? I mean with the ratio being 2:1 and so?

Or is it cube maps which need another ratio?

I finally downloaded the whole 650 Mb, so my demand for a light famous planet is over.

HOWEVER, I am sure some people will love to have that.

Of course you would loose a lot of detail. Especially on the city planets. But with small textures it is possible to do a whole galaxy. Although I have to ask myself if its really worth it. The standard generator now actually generates nice planets. I'm thinking more in terms of doing all the regions on the vector maps.

256×192 will be scaled up to 256×256 (with a logged warning). Cube maps must be exactly 1:6.

I still have problem with getting this work with Deep Horizon Systems. When I use just FP 2.5 and DH, Deep Horizon overwrites FP textures when entering system, but descriptions and texture at system info before entering system is from FP. When I add System Redux (OXP nescessary to run FP) to the mix, game crashes with no output to log when jumping.

That is strange because it is designed to work with SysRedux and also Deep Horzion and on my system I run this combination without problems. Although now I'm running the default generator while waiting for a new version of either System Redux or Deep Horizon.

Do you run 174.2 at minimum or 175?

Getting back into Oolite after a 3 year hiatus... thankfully in those intervening years I upgraded my net connection! But Damn FP2.5 looks mighty nice! Worth every megabyte, Great work :D

PAGroove & Sarin-
It is broken, but only for folks who downloaded DH_Systems AFTER 1.75 was released. When I updated the scripts for 1.75, I finished the clean-up process from the whole SR2/DH_Systems renaming thing. This included the name of the DH_Systems API script that FP2.5 talks to in order to achieve compatibility. Hence, FP2.5 is looking for a script that is no longer there from it's perspective. Name changes like that should not be necessary in the future. With your permission, PA, I'll update the script and upload the changed copy. You're still distributing from my site, correct?
