Thanks for noticing the ambiguity re the Reference Sheet.. hopefully someone will take care of that shortly.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I was checking up on the OoPhysics of WitchSpace and time-of-flight and came across this old thread.

<P>That we don't see the Thargoids doing normal things suggests that they have either a different Qurium handling technoology (sorry, neoologism ; too many "oo"s), or they play by different laws of physics to us. Both of which are potential subjects of investigation. I.e. ship destruction, followed by dismantling if you have the equipment. And the cargo hold space.
Star system distribution
The Kepler and K2 missions in the RealWorld (subject of an upcoming version of Oolite?) have revealed that a high proportion of stars have planets in orbit. But the Oolite maps never show a star without a planet (that's getting a bit vaguer with the multiple-planet and multiple base OXPs - I haven't met a system with just a sun and a few asteroid swarms, but they're not physically impossible.) So, do the Oolite maps include ALL galaxy stars, or only those stars with at least one settled (or natively inhabited) planet. If the latter is the case, then potentially the Thargoids are using uninhabited (or unexploited) systems to move around without bringing attention to themselves. I can almost read the mission specification :
GalCop Navy is looking for an experienced and brave (i.e. suicidally foolhardy) Jameson to carry out a reconnaissance of a newly-discovered "channel" of Brown Dwarf stars which are unsuitable for human habitation but may be suitable for Thargoid bases and/ or military infrastructure.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Since there's been at least two releases since the bulk of this thread was posted, what's the current situation with regards to elapsed time?

You mean as regards misjumps? Elapsed time to midway is 75% of full elapsed time.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
