Oolite & Lucid (Ubuntu 10.04)
Has anyone attempted to see if Oolite works with 10.04? I was just wondering if the test release would work, and maybe even the nightly trunk builds.
Once i figure out how to build from source then I will try from scratch,
TIA
EDIT: Just installed v on my eeepc 900a netbook running 10.04 and it seems to be ok so far...

I meant, trunk compiled on Lucid works on Lucid. I didn't try the autopackage version, although it should work since it provides its own dependencies. If it crashes, please post Latest.log and any additional output.
Update: adding Lucid to the debian build server will unfortunately have to wait until next week as I forgot to enable remote access...

I've only just got used to Jaunty (having jumped from Gutsy) - not sure I'm ready to jump again - however, it does anything extra that's whizzy - let me know...Thargoid wrote:Good to know (says he writing this under Ubuntu KK, with the upgrade to LL ongoing in the background).

Hello,
Build always from sources.
For Debian based as Ubuntu, it is very simple as the Oolite project provide debian directories.
Here the plan :
1 ) unpack the sources where you want to work.
2 ) change directory to the unpacked one.
3 ) rename debian/changelog.in to debian/changelog
4 ) suppress the first entry of debian/changelog
5 ) use dch command to update versionning and edit the changelog file.
6 ) run dpkg-buildpackage to compile the sources and build the packages
7 ) install new packages with 'dpkg -i ' command
It is clean, it is great, it is functionnal.
Cdt,
B.

Well the update from KK to LL managed to completely bork the machine (it's got an old NVidia GeForce 5200 which LL completely fails to recognise and hence no screen at all) and also the WinXP partition also fails to boot through grub
So unfortunately it's had to have a delicate touch of fixMBR and fixBoot to restore it to a Windows-only machine, and no longer a dual-boot box.
May order an LL disc and try again some other time, but for now no more Linux playing about (KK took some persuading to work with that card - perhaps I should have taken the hint )
