Short Range Chart - show Advanced Navigational Array info

I don't know if this is possible via an OXP or whether it requires core code changes, but I thought it would be really useful to display the current route selected by the Advanced Navigational Array on the Short Range Chart (F6), possibly when pressing the "I" key to show system info.

As an enhancement (I understand it's possible in the trunk and that the destination is also now "sticky") show both the shortest and the quickest routes.

With this it would make it much easier for a commander to have a long range destination and the information about how to get there easily available to him but crucially be free to choose an alternative destination if he doesn't like the suggested route.

For example if the suggested route takes me through a succession of high tech level industrial planets there is little opportunity for trade but by taking a small detour via a low tech agricultural planet suddenly the trip becomes a lot more profitable. All this info would be readily available on a single screen making choosing the route much simpler.

Whaddyathink? Possible? Plausible? Wanting my cake and eating it?

Even better would be to have a sort of NAV-computer thats able to store the whole route in memory so that a commander on a long journey don't have to choose the planets manually. Of course he can always re-route. Like an FMC (Flight Management Computer) they have in airlines.

Is this possible with an OXP? I would happily have a stab at it if someone could point me in the right direction. I looked on the wiki at the JavaScript object model and function list but couldn't see anything which related to the short range chart.

No, it isn't possible via OXP.

But the suggestion is there. You can still hope that someone will put it up (although probably post-MSNR).

yeah, that's what i thought too. please add this functionality.
i'm thinking the nav computer should require the advanced navigational array. also, it would be nice to have 2 options: the fastest route or the one with the fewest jumps.

That option is already in trunk, I believe..

In the upcoming 1.74, you already have the two options. Activating the ANA the standard way shows least number of jumps route, activating it with Ctrl held down shows fastest route to destination.

didn't know that. but it would still be nice to have a nav computer. i mean, even today, every airliner has that function, so in 1000 years or whatever it should be even more advanced.
